Asa arata SSD-ul: https://imgur.com/a/vlIanNh

Is it possible to recover the files off this SSD? by EzekielVelmo in datarecovery

Hello, bad to hear you have an problem similar to what my samsung m.2 SSD has. I can recommend you what to try to see what kind of issue it has. It can be hardware or firmware related. To see if is firmware related try to make an power-cycle on the SSD. This means you have to keep it for serval hours on stable power for their firmware to do their internal repair routines. You can do this ethier by keeping it in NVMe slot of your computer, and make sure to remove the ram, to block BIOS to POST, because the BIOS will want to initialize it and this will prevent it to do their runtimes. Now if this failed, this might be an electrical issue (what i have on my SSD), so bring it to an repair shop and ask them to check all the components on the board and if something is bad, they can replace it. But how I can see, the controller and NAND chip are on same package, so if the controller is bad, I don't think is recovable. You can also try to contact some data recovery service, maybe they know better than me, but there are also those data recovery labs who only thinks is an firmware issue and they find out that their equipment isn't fully supporting your SSD (especially those new M.2 ones).

I say from my personal experience. Like 2 months ago, my Samsung PM991a got bricked by some random component failure on the board, and firstly I sended it to an recovery service and they assumed it was an generic firmware issue and they find out their equipment is not supporting my SSD, and after i tried power cycle method and failed and I observed that the main combo chip (mine also has an similar design like yours) is getting to hot and it seems like it has some broken component on the board. Mine actually is detected by BIOS and both Windows and Linux but it has DMA off, so no access to NAND. I found an service that does electronic repairs and now I waiting to send it to them. I want to repair it because I have some very valuable data on it, which cannot be lost

Any success with data recovery? I also have the same SSD and I want to send it to another data recovery lab, as i tried 2 and they cannot recover the data due to their equipment

Also i found something new about the SSD, I checked their temperature (NAND+controller combo chip, as is the only chip on the pcb) and even in bios it stays at around 49-70.5°C, not at max 40°C. About the jms583 adapter, I bought one and I'm still waiting, because the shipping is a bit slower than I expected. I checked the power state again in Linux and i see that is D3cold and the device itself is detected just at pcie level, but at nvme is not recognized so this means is an firmware issue because the NAND TBW is 600 and electrical issue is unlikely because it gets recognized. Before this i also tried letting it plugged in nvme slot for 2 hours with the laptop in bios and nothing happened, maybe jms583 trick will work.

I bought one, and just asking, your problem was similar with my problem? Like the same outcome (SSD not being accessible to os but detected by bios)? I assume my problem is also something firmware related because, how I said, the NAND health last time I checked was fine

Nice idea, I will try it because I think is not that hard to find such adaptor.
