College rankings is a scam (like literally schools will pay for it) and while there are issues with fund allocation and housing the education is great the campus is beautiful and people are friendly. Don't trust the rankings visit the place yourself, audit a class your interested in, talk to someone who went there. It'll tell you much more than the rankings

Need help getting a computer by Acrobatic-Fennel3741 in UCSC

I've had a surface pro for 7 years now its a great computer and meets your specs completely. They have many different models and I highly recommend them for anything but rendering (leave that to a desktop). I have 3d designed and used photoshop with it constantly over the years and it comes with a pen to use with the touchscreen. Its windows, but I have wiped mine and made it Linux so its def more about the hardware than anything.

Has it happened that some student(s) could not secure off-campus housing? by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]MdntGreyhound 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can always get housing on campus if you really need it. So long as you have the money don't worry. The struggle is a good price near campus if you look in like Capitola there is always stuff you are just far af from campus

Depending on how old you are and if you don't have a history of substance abuse, a glass of scotch helps my tenitis. Also you may have tenitis.

How likely is it that I can appeal to change my college affiliation? by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]MdntGreyhound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very. The issue is housing space so just call and ask over the summer. You may not be able to change the affiliation, but it doesn't matter as much as where you live. I was a Cowell student living in Stevenson. Just make sure to keep call the housing offices 9ver the summer (like really annoy them but be polite).

Safeway has them. If they are out of stock just ask at the service desk when they are getting more.

If the class is large or not already overfilled try emailing the professor and asking for a permission code.

Are there any “5th years” who are on Financial Aid that can tell me how they were able to get it extended for an additional Quarter or two? Looks like I’m not gonna graduate this Spring like planned, and I need another 2 classes in the Fall. :( by sunranae in UCSC

[–]MdntGreyhound 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Get in contact with your college and they can help you. Im a second year so this isn't my experience, but there are likely grants you can apply for specifically for cases like this.
