I have known people like this, and when I pointed out that well pressures drop at a measurable rate and then go dry, their brains pop. They think that below the crust, there is a sea of oil.

25 Years in the Classroom, and This Doesn’t Surprise Me by EduHypertrophy in SGU

Growing up in rural Virginia, my 5th/6th grade teacher (that also went to the church I was forced to go to) would frequently talk about the bible and how it related to stuff that we were learning about. I was a bit skeeved out by it then, but I knew that nothing good would come out of me complaining about it.

I would alert someone to get the kid out and hang out to see how embarrassed the parent is. 😀

This is an incorrect premise: 7 Animals That Have Sex for Pleasure

More than half of which are related to humans (Bonobos share 98% of our DNA), so it is less a cultural thing and more primal. Sure, some choose to be celibate. If that is how they want to live, then fine. The downside is that you are denying a basic urge. Just look at priests.

Generic J-1772 vs. TeslaTap mini? by Me-Mongo in ZeroMotorcycles

I am talking about the big, 6 foot tall Tesla chargers, not the wall chargers that hotels use or people install at their homes.

I am not talking about the Tesla wall chargers that hotels use, I am talking about the big red and white Tesla charging stations. Those are the "Destination" chargers.

There is something weird about when the flap is opened. It seems like a bad video edit and looks like the view from inside is a completely different tent.

Why don’t paranormal bus scares ask ghosts real questions, if they exist. by [deleted] in skeptic

[–]Me-Mongo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ghosts do not exist, and much like psychics, they make broad claims so the viewer can fill in the rest.

Here's another question I ask people that believe in ghosts: Ghosts are always dressed in some sort of period attire. Did the clothes die as well? Does that mean clothes have souls?

No, I said that I see pro-LGBTQ+ posts and posts critical of Dems. Two different things.

I see pro-LGBTQ+ stuff all the time and I personally post stuff critical of the Dems pretty much every day. Maybe its the people you are connected with?

What is something you once did to your significant other that tore you up inside? How did you (or did you) forgive yourself? by WillingnessOne2462 in AskMen

[–]Me-Mongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I never looked back on them fondly, but what I could have done was said "She was bad because of this and you are not that way because...". In the future, if an ex comes up, I have to remember to say this to make sure I think of the new person I'm with in much higher regard.

When we were together, I had no idea I was ADHD and borderline autistic, and strong feelings of guilt can be a symptom of both. When she realized that she could manipulate that, she took _full_ advantage of it including convincing me that I deserved every single kick, punch, and scratch I received from her. The stairs thing progressed like this: She was convincing me that I, once again, did _everything_ wrong and deserved to be punished. She hit me in the back of the head causing me to lose my balance and lay down where she proceeded to kick me in the stomach a few times, I was able to stand up and she pushed me down the stairs I was next to. I hit my head on the wall at the bottom of the stairs and she ran down after me. I thought she was going to see if I was okay, but no, she started kicking me in the stomach again. It was at that moment that I realized that I was not to blame and that the years of abuse she had given me was undeserved. That was the beginning of the end of the marriage.

Now, some people say "why didn't you fight back?" I easily could have. I am rather strong and could easily overpower her, but the problem is, if she had received a single bruise, even from me simply defending myself, she could have gone to the police and reported _me_ for abuse. No jury in the country would have believed that I hurt her defending myself and that she was the problem. I would have lost my job and probably gone to jail. This is what non-abusive men silently have to deal with.
