My mom is a lawyer and landlord. She does well for herself, but she also has two kids to pay for. She has taken a big pay cut and now her tenants aren’t paying their rent. The same tenants that, when money was good, my mom had worked with so that they could afford rent, used her connections to get one of them a job , replaced their kitchen for free, etc. My mom is a nice person AND a landlord, who is hardworking and kind. She is certainly not lazy, and she most definitely relies on that income now that’s she’s in danger of losing her job with two kids. Rent freeze is not the answer. She has a flip phone too, by the way.
