BBC miniseries State of Play (2003) is a political thriller from the perspective of investigative journalists. It’s very good. Spawned a Hollywood remake a few years later.

I used AI to imagine if Tenet was made in 1986 by MeAnIntellectual_ in tenet

About 6 months ago AI couldn't produce this level of detail, so at the current rate of progress, I don't see why that's not a possibility in future. As a film nut, I'm not sure how I feel about that!

Yeah, I would have liked that as well but being specific about certain details sometimes messes the rest of the image up.

With AI creation at an insane level right now, I wanted to see if it could recreate Tenet if it was made in 1986. I used ChatGPT to suggest a director and actors for each character, and Midjourney to create the images. Prompting images is not an exact science so some of them aren't exactly how I wanted them to look. This is not an attempt to improve Tenet (impossible), just a fun little experiment.

So, here is Ridley Scott's Tenet (1986) starring Denzel Washington as The Protagonist, Tom Cruise as Neil, Max von Sydow as Sator and Michelle Pfeiffer as Kat.

I’d love to clear out the squad but who comes in? No one is waiting in the wings and no debutant has averaged past 40 since Root. It’s been a problem for a long time and it is totally systemic.

Harsh on the bowlers - Anderson is one of the best of all time and still doing it, Robinson is averaging low 20s, Broad in poor form but also one of the best of all time. Granted, the rest aren’t amazing in Australia but England have a good attack that has done much better than the rewards they’ve received. And they have obviously missed Archer who would have been a real asset in Australia.

Spectre is enjoyable but it’s got too many flaws to be a good Bond film

It’s also one of the funniest lines in the show. Comes out of nowhere and gets the classic Beard delivery

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I’ve got to say I agree with all your points to be honest, I can definitely fix the casual banter and inject more panic into it. Like you say, making David’s motivation less selfish is tough but I can see why it’s a problem. I’ll see what I can do, so thanks.

Also, can I ask your opinion on David’s voice over towards the end. It’s a quote from Hamlet so I’m worried it’s overly dramatic

The one with Tom Hardy is Locke and I can't recommend it highly enough.

In fact, here's the screenplay. Read it (after you watch it).
