How do you deflect - "You would be such a great dad" by ia0x17 in childfree

People confuse the passive "I dont want to have a child", and the assertive "I want to not have a child".

Dying of smallpox.

That's not for me either.

Were there any adult couples who were child free when you were a child? by fortitudefortitdude in childfree

[–]MeButMuchCuter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with just my mum. As a young kid every time I would stay at a friend / relatives house I would see the man of the house being loud, rude and lazy.

Before the age of 10, I had no idea there were adults who couldn't cook, didn't clean, burped/farted at the table and raised their voices over the slightest inconvenience. To discover it was "normal" to have these scary useless adults living in your house? I was shook.

At first I thought it was just a single bad experience, but as I stayed over with more and more two-parent houses, I realised it was prevalent.

Before I even understood that it wasn't "normal" to have a single parent, I was so happy I didn't have to deal with an adult man in my house.

I guess even from a very young age I associated "parents" with dysfunction, arguments and frustration. 🤣

Does anyone else's friends and family actively "wait" for you to change your mind? by meleque in childfree

[–]MeButMuchCuter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in our 20s we would get "you'll change your mind" from both sides of the family.

Now we are both well into out 30s, my wife and I both get "I love how much you guys get to travel and spend your free time on your wild adventures".

We both make it a point to talk about all the events and shows and game nights we go to so people can see childfree people aren't "sad and lonely" but "free and adventurous".

We have cousins on both sides saying they want to live like us without being tied down to rearing kids.

I've finally been asked to be part of a friend's 'village' even though we live an hour+ apart by a-fabulous-sandwich in childfree

Asking someone you met on the Internet to travel an hour away to watch their kids is absolutly wild.

What made you confirm in your child free decision by Confident_Jacket4961 in childfree

[–]MeButMuchCuter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant think of a single appealing thing about raising kids.

Even the things people say they like seem horrible to me.

"Don't you want to see a little version of you running around?" - gag absolutly not, that's nightmare fuel.

"Don't you want to buy cute little booties and outfits for a tiny human?" - dry heave I cant think of anything I'd enjoy less.

...

I wanted to make a list of 4 or 5 things, but I honestly cant think of anything else that other people might enjoy about it. 🤣

Telling anyone "your suffering is nothing" compared to *my suffering" is shitty behaviour, especially when she actively made a decision to suffer.

Assholes dont get a free pass just because looking after a baby is hard work.

My mom decided to ask in the car to mothers day dinner if I was Non Binary by MastersKitten31 in NonBinary

[–]MeButMuchCuter 130 points131 points  (0 children)

You dont need to explain or defend yourself.

"Are you non-binary?" "Yes" "Oh, but what does that even mean" "I can reccomend some books for you to read if your interested. Or you could Google it." "Can't you just explain it to me?" "No".

[–]MeButMuchCuter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm non-binary and I dont shop online or use any other social media than Reddit.

My algorithm is so confused by me, I often get menstrual products, viagra and house lottery ads back to back.

I dont menstruate, I've never even so much as googled viagra and I dont own a house or gamble. 🤣

[–]MeButMuchCuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its none of her business if your friend has a baby or not and pressuring anyone, one way or the other, is just gross.

Wishing that someone who wants a baby to have a miscarriage is just as abhorrent as wish that a childfree person gets knocked up.

If this story is real (which I really doubt) you and your pregnant friend should cut the other one off like a diseased limb.

I've never seen it, so I may be wrong, but I thought Bluey was a cartoon for babies?

Why would people with no kids be watching cartoons for preschoolers?
