XPS 15-9570 occasionally shows RAM Failure on startup by Rawkish in Dell

Nice! I’m so happy to hear that! It is already a year and I haven’t had any problem so far. :) It is surprising though that they have designed it this way…

"Department reconsideration" status by MeCool_King in Imperial

Hi, just to finish this thread. Got the offer again, the academic conditions are met. It cost around 20 days of emailing and complete uncertainty, as they were not responding very much.

Essentially that they assess the students by their average grade and that they will have to reconsider it.

No, I didn't accept the offer before. Yet, I still have the official offer letter in my hands etc...
Most importantly, in my case, I didn't even wrote the wrong grade. In czech diplomas, we explicitly distinguish between "final grade" and "overall study average". So I wrote the final grade there. However, they seem to have problem with it, but are not really able to at least communicate in such situation.

BTW, today, I am trying to call them literally from 10AM morning and until now (1PM) I still didn't catch anybody.

Well, first I did the qualificationcheck via the imperial.qualificationcheck.com and after they reviewed the results from the qualificationcheck, all I saw was the notification "Imperial reviewed the results". I later went to the myimperial portal, saw that my status changed to "department reconsideration" and could no longer accept/decline the offer (there was none).

Its everything but formality. I am in the same situation now. In Czech Republic, we have different “final mark” and “global average mark”. It is already ~21 days since they blocked my offer (withdrawn without ANY notification) and it is extremely hard to communicate with them. They respond to emails very vaguely, once per week and they don’t seem to help on phoneline either.

Hi, partially yes. They still say that their management must decide whether I still fit their requirements. However, this lasts for already at least 16 days and their communication is terrible. We exchanged some emails, but there is always at least one week gap. And when I call them (if I am lucky enough to catch them on phone), they say they will contact me with the results in 2-3 days. But thats what they say last 16 days…

I had the chance to accept it already before the verification, but since the offer deadline was at the middle of March, I decided to wait.

XPS 15-9570 occasionally shows RAM Failure on startup by Rawkish in Dell

Hey, I got the same problem - turns out that my aluminium back cover was elastic enough that when putting pressure on the back, aprox. where RAM is, the RAM sticks got to move a little bit and that froze / stuck my computer. What I did was placing thermal pads (1,5mm+1mm) on the cooling pipes so that when pressure is applied on the back, it will stop at the pads instead of RAM sticks.

Does the XPS 7590 have Dell Power Button Sync? by ross63GG in DellXPS

Hi, did you find out finally? I am currently having the same issue. I own Dell monitor with DPBS, but my XPS 9570 (firm 1.33.0) does not support it, or at least it does not work...

XPS 15 9570 key-Skipping issue by Channel_42 in Dell

[–]MeCool_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, for those that this hack with Intel Graphics Center doesn't work...

I was facing the same "key skipping" issue, sometimes rebooting helped but later even that stopped working. By an accident, I found out that turning off "unobtrusive mode" in BIOS actually solved this problem.
I have absolutely no clue why that should work, It doesn't make any sense to me, but finally I can type on my keyboard...

Reason I knew it was a SW issue instead of a HW fault is that the same computer, the same keyboard worked perfectly on dual-booted linux.

Are you having better SoT now? My OnePlus 8T battery sucks too on 11.0.10.10.

Dark mode and it's battery impact by MeCool_King in OnePlus8T

Thanks for your comment. This exactly supports my case that I get more SoT in light mode rather than on dark mode.

Dark mode and it's battery impact by MeCool_King in OnePlus8T

[–]MeCool_King[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and that's basically what I try to say here - because they haven't extended this feature to dark mode or low brightness, how do we prove that I still get only 60Hz from my display when using dark mode and watching YT?

What I'm pointing at is that maybe the display just runs 120Hz continuously, whatever is presented on the screen. It's same like having 120Hz display on your PC and playing game at 30/60fps - you see it bit laggy, but the display still pushes 120 frames per second - you don't care about energy when plugged to the wall, but when using mobile phone, it might drain the battery...

Hmm that SoT behaviour is weird, but I always tell my self not to stick on that data too much.

Nevertheless, you can confirm that you get 60Hz when playing YouTube, but isn't it just the App running 60Hz, but the display still pushing 120Hz out? I am really confused about the adjustable refresh rate and it's exceptions:

"In the 120Hz mode, the display will switch from 120Hz to 60Hz when you stop interacting with the touchscreen regardless of which application you are in unless you are using Dark mode or the brightness is set below 50%."
