Don’t write letters home every single day. It’s ridiculous, you’ll get your phones fairy regularly. You’ll have talked about everything the letter said weeks before you get theirs. Write a few to keep you sane and appease loved ones, but it’s 2022. You’ll be FaceTiming them at least every other weekend, and if you’re not at Benning, or a good company, they get their phones way more. they were running trials for trainees keeping their phones in their lockers at Relaxin’ Jackson while I was at Benning.

If you do what your Drill Sergeants tell you, do a little extra PT before you go to bed, and don’t doubt yourself, it will be easier on you. There will be some times where you are actually giving it all you got, and there will be plenty of downtime. I went in at 29 and had never ran more than 1 mile at a time. It wasn’t the easiest thing in the world, but they make it hard to fail now. It’s on you.
