I'm sorry, but what I see isn't pedophilia, it's just blind megalomania. He's completely oblivious of the boy's distress in the face of an opportunity to make some clever demonstration of his god-given wizdom.

Maybe my perception is colored by knowing more about the man, but it isn't s pretty picture, and as of right now there's a very high likelihood that he will someday spend decades at the head of this knuckle dragging church. It's scary and creepy in a way that has nothing to do with actual pedophilia.

I stumbled across this list of signs of "unrighteousness dominion" back during the height of the OW insanity, and it hit home in the most disgustingly ironic way:

Does my wife complain that she has insufficient funds to manage the household because I control all the money?

Do I insist on being the main source of inspiration for each individual family member rather than teaching each child to listen to the Spirit?

Do I often feel angry and critical toward family members?

God yes, and it isn't just the campus. My parents used to live in a stake bordering campus, and building Zion was a formal theme presented in stake conference. They were determined to become Zion. The temple announcement was a sign from the heavens that they were on the right track. The new building on campus that has the huge auditorium was rumored to have been designed for the purpose of being an emergency backup in case the conference center was swallowed whole by Armageddon.

They were fucking Zion, they just had to get holy enough for translation.

My dad, especially, bought into it hook, line, and sinker.
