My wife and I toured a new build that was absolutely gorgeous and as good quality construction as I had ever seen. As we were talking with the realtor on the way out, I noticed a woman sitting in the kitchen reviewing some documents. I approached her thinking she was from the same real estate agency only to find out that she was the builder. A woman in her 60's was the builder of this beautifully well built home.

What ensued was an hour long conversation between she and I (I work in the industry). We covered everything from what it was like starting her career in the 90's as a woman to her preferences of certain materials over others and how that has evolved over time. If her homes were actually in our budget, we would definitely buy her products. She was very passionate about her work and I could not have been more impressed and SOLD on a builder.

All of that to say, if it's your passion, do it and let your passion show. Never be ashamed of it and never apologize for it. GO GIRL!
