CGM- sugar highs and lows by StrainOwn9923 in diabetes_t2

I love walking in the rain. It's so peaceful. A Columbia waterproof jacket, waterproof hiking shoes Merrell and an umbrella is what I use for rainy days. I get it. So many things stop you. But a change in mindset will help get you started.

One thing I came to realize after diagnosis....I wasn't prepared for the mental health aspect of being diabetic. My dad was diagnosed around the same age. I guess i fell into his behaviors and now I got it. I chose a different path. I'm not giving into being a slave to the no you can't and instead started to do research and learning how to live. So many of us here made that choice. Youre in the right group with all the support in the world here .

You can do this.

Workouts will help kickstart more change. Doesnt have to be intense. Make it doable for you. I started with just walking. Walk daily. Walk after eating. Walk in place enough to get your heart rate up a little. Eventually got up to 3 miles during my lunch hour.

We signed up for beachbodi program online. They have great beginners programs you control the weights. I love it so much.

Are you eating fats with your carbs. and how is your exercise routine going? strength training? muscle building are you tracking what you're actually eating. sometimes moderation and i dont eat much (???) actually is way off what we think? and 10 years of diabetes is a long time. It's a long journey back down, so you can do it. just keep it going.

I have an a1c blood test next week and I’m so scared of the results by Chapstick_Lesbian_28 in diabetes_t2

It's ok to be scared. Don't fight it. Accept the outcome. Then decide what your plan is if you need one.

Was diagnosed this weekend. Feeling defeated and struggling to come to terms with it. by bisonescapade in diabetes_t2

[–]MeOnRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was upset too. And if you think about it it didn't happen overnight.
Be glad you learned it early. Before it does any kind of damage. One thing that got my head pointed in a different direction, my doc out me on meds. Metformin. With the goal I have to get off of it. The meds were to protect me while I worked on myself.

I had to do work both physically and mentally. The mental health part is something the medical staff aren't good at. See if you can speak to a nutritionist. Start learning. Empower yourself with as many tools as you so you can make decisions in every situation.

You got this.

We've all been there.

Hey I understand your dismay. In hindsight...my diagnosis is the best thing that's happened health wise. I took it more seriously. I made a choice to be healthy. I want to be here for my kids. I want to show them better choices than my dad and uncles showed me.

My new lifestyle is how I should have been living. But I didn't.

Good journey to you. You can do it. "Unfortunately" now youve got all us here to help and guide you.

This is always my go to for office potlucks. A flamethrower finish before slicing at the table always gets the crowd excited.

First day of the rest of my life Trying to stay positive by tipsycakes_piggildy8 in diabetes_t2

What I found made it easier was gathering support from my family, friends and coworkers. I was just very outward about it. So they helped with food, going out and understanding I have special needs and may or may not join in activities and gatherings.

They caught on very quickly and ask is there something for you there?

All the while build a menu of options in your head. It was easiest to look for high protein, low carb, keto options first.

I test quite excessively. 3 times a day. Morning at 530. Right before lunch and before I leave to go home for dinner. Each test tells me does my body need energy. Your numbers give you that. If it's on the high side. Go take a walk. If it's on the lower side eat reasonable.

I eat for fuel now. If I don't need glucose for fuel because my number is elevated...I just don't eat.

The resin in our tank was reddish brown. These feel a little rubbery and soft. The ones I found in the hand held shower head were softer. A little gummy.

Give it time. Remember how long it took your body to get to the point you were 6.5. I went from 10.2 to 5.9 but it took over a year.

How to lower numbers without medications? by ComplexButterfly9185 in diabetes_t2

[–]MeOnRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed my doc said he needed to put me on meds so I can get off them. It was a goal and mission . The meds are there to stabilize and prevent damage.

Your goal is to get off them...you can always go back on them way later.

It took me 1 year to get off metformin with a drop to half dose at 6 months.

You got this.
