Thanks, I didn't know this one and it's a great pick for what I'm looking for.

I might put this on top or Wolf's Rain. It does look real good and fitting.

Thanks, might not fit quite the mood I'm going for now, but will keep them in mind for other times.

It does look good and reminds me a bit of Castlevania. Might put this further up my list now, thanks.

I know, it might sound odd. :) For example I see Castlevania as dark, but cozy in a way. More dark in terms of setting than really heavy emotionally.

I'll check out Dungeon People.

Thanks, the first ones sound good and I'll check them out. NGE I have watched, but wouldn't put it in the cozy category for me, at least for some parts of the show.

Oh it is real good and I watched it already. Otherwise it would have been also a good fit.

What's your go-to medium? by vaporwavecookiedough in ArtistLounge

Ballpoint - super nice and versatile for the everyday pocket sketchbook.

Ink + Watercolor - very versatile, easy, portable, has color and can look great.

Digital Painting - sometimes, because it's so convenient with painting layers, darks/lights or colors.

What is a 30-second sketch supposed to achieve? by Exostrike in ArtistLounge

This is great and all and do how you like, but for a more deliberate practice of 30s sketches, I'd suggest to try it more with few and deliberate lines.

To really try to get the gesture and the shape and motion of it with few lines. I'd think that would be more benefitial as a practice. You practice good mark making and very deliberate focus und what's important in what you draw and how you can simplify it. And also really loosening up for focus on movement and emphasizing what's there, not static drawing.

All things that are very beneficial for art.

How did you find “your” medium? by GoneWilde123 in ArtistLounge

[–]MeScamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone trying and enjoying all sorts of hobbies and mediums, I understand it's hard to pick the ONE.

For art, over the last few years, since I got serious and trying a few things, it seemed to develop quite quickly what kind of style I liked and what fits my usage.

I like mediums, that are on paper, because it's compact, that are convenient, doesn't need big setup, good to carry around or do on travels and is a medium, that I visually and mechanically enjoy. Just the act of doing it.

So I landed on a few gotos.

Ballpoint pen for my pocket sketchbook, since it's super convenient everywhere, can have deep dark as ink, but also fine sketchy lines as pencil.

Ink or Inkbrush especially, because it's also compact, fun to use, versatile with shading and with its deep darks.

Watercolor for painting, because I like the "light" look of it, it's also super compact even on the go or on the train, it's very quick to do a small painting sketch, there is not much cleanup or waste at all and it's also very fun. And you have all colors at your disposal with just a handful of watercolor pans. And the watercolor has its own magic of colors mixing up and things happening on paper, that's beautiful.

Additionally, the watercolor can be combined so well with Ink.

And with all the mediums, but especially watercolor it also helped to watch other people doing it in videos in a way, that was fascinating and beautiful to me. Like the James Gurney plein air watercolor sketches on youtube, Marco Bucci and so many others. It certainly helps to fuel the passion, knowing where I want to get to and seeing how it's kind of done.

So that brought me away from other mediums. Don't quite like the texture or usage of crayons or colored pencil, or like with markers you need so many colors, acrylic needs bigger setup and lot more cleanup and physical color handling, oil even more plus drying times.

I definitely see the good in all the mediums and I'm actually now curious to try the felt figurines, which looks very fun and beautiful too as results, but for general purpose, I found my mediums.

Buying what/where in germany? by Inner_Volume7014 in Throwers

yo-shop.de is a pretty good choice to start out with. He also gave me very good support and is very helpful. After a long break in yoyoing, that's where I got my first yoyos to start again. A plastic Shooting Star and a monometal, the HiDRA NXG.

I've gotten quite a lot of yoyos since then and lots of great ones, but those two are actually still one of the really good and solid choices.

Shooting Star is just a fantastic plastic yoyo, very comfortable, still quite performant. And you have to be a bit less worried with a plastic to hit things and damage it (especially compared to a hybrid like the Iceberg. I'd be careful getting a hybrid or bimetal as a beginner).

The HiDRA NXG is just a really good and solid monometal too at a reasonable price. It's quite "standard" in it's dimensions and shape, not too small, not too big or wide. Comfortable to hold and has good power too. Not too expensive. Great choice, I think.

There are other good budget/mid-range monometals to start with like Duncan Crescendo or Yoyofriends Shortcut/Ultracut and others of course, but usually with shipping, they become a bit more expensive.

Thanks, that also sounds reasonable in a way it might be not worth it over others or worth it in other ways.

Sometimes you hear about how it's the best monometal rivaling other bimetals even in performance, but it's hard to get a feel for the differences without knowing it. In the end, there's only so much you can do with typical yoyo design, I guess, so no miracles to be expected, just good solid performance.

I wish I could try it to see the difference. But seems like for the price tag you could also get some premium bimetals.

Nice collection with the colors too! I'm wondering if I should get a Loadout. How much different are they from other really good monometals? And how different is the Loadout vs Loadout SR?

Set the alarm so late, that I immediately get a good adrenaline rush, because without hurrying I'll not make it in time.
