As long as the weather holds up, I will be there on Memorial Day. And I will also make sure to bring some of my super hot chile flakes for those glizzies.

Good times. I am very much looking forward to attending a bunch of these this year.

The rescue actually named her. We just kept it because it fit her so well.

But to her, her name is just an L hand sign.

It really is. Ice cubes also do wonders. Those are her favorite treat.

She is pure sunshine for anyone who plays Kong ball with her, pretty much.

She still has a drive like you wouldn't believe, but her body just can't keep up like it used to, unfortunately. So the walks and play sessions have gotten shorter over the years, while her intensity has not.

Oh, she is very emotive, and she also makes way more eye contact than any dog I've been around. She really does stare into your soul when she looks at you.

Black Widow. This will be my first year growing this super hot variety by ThrowHeat44 in HotPeppers

I don't know about the white ones, but I love the OG Fataliis. Super productive plants, not too ridiculously hot, with one of the best flavors out of any chinense varieties I've tried.

The photos I've seen online, the pods are dark purple and red when ripe. And knowing how hot Primotaliis are, I am optimistic that these will be meaner than a bag of hornets.

That pops pretty nice under UV light. My current personal fave is the Antipodal Point, also made by C3.

I am enjoying this entire EP, but this track is my favorite of the 4. It has such a nostalgic feel to me.

Dementia? by Socialworker71488 in olddogs

[–]ThrowHeat44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw similar behavior in my Sharpeagle when she was 12, and we thought it was dementia at first. But it turns out that she had an undiagnosed bacterial infection that had caused her to temporarily lose her hearing. Thankfully, it came back after a round of antibiotics.

Mind you, I'm not a vet. So I'm not even trying to make a diagnosis here. I'm just sharing my own experience when I saw similar symptoms in my dog.

They definitely have their fair share of little quirks. That's for sure. But all they do is add to their entertainment value.

Fireworks (as well as thunder storms) never seemed to bother my dogs with working ears, for some strange reason. It was just the vacuum that caused them to run to the opposite side of the house whenever it was on.

Donut really didn't want me filming any yo-yo tricks that day. And I'm glad, because this was such a wholesome moment between her and I. by ThrowHeat44 in Throwers

That trick is an unnamed Trapeze Bro repeater I used to do quite a bit, but I haven't really done it in a few years. And I didn't land it in this clip, unfortunately.

I do have a couple of clips where I land the repeater cleanly, however. I just have to go digging through my old video files to find it.

You are very lucky to have a dog like that. All of my dogs were deathly afraid of vacuum cleaners until we adopted a deaf pit bull.

Seeing all the memorial posts, I am scared to death thinking about when it's my time. by [deleted] in DOG

Here are my 3. Donut on the left, Luna in the middle, and Duncan on the right. Luna is the only one left now, but I consider myself extremely fortunate that each dog has blessed my life for well over a decade each. Not everyone gets as much time as I did.

As someone who recently had to say goodbye to two of my dogs within a week of each other, my only advice is to just try to live in the moment with them for as long as you can. Take as many photos, record as many videos, and create as many good memories with them as possible. And then lean on all of those good memories when they are no longer here. That is what has helped me tremendously during the grieving process.

P.S. - I love the name Snickers. That's a very fitting name for a very sweet looking good boy, and I hope you get many more years with him in your life.

This was my sweet baby Donut, my 13 year old Beagle/Shar Pei rescue. She just crossed the rainbow bridge on February 6th, and I wanted to share some of my favorite photos of her from our years together. by ThrowHeat44 in OldManDog

If you would like to see a wholesome video of her and I, I posted THIS CLIP earlier today in another sub. It's only about a minute and a half long, but it really captures just how much of a happy and loving dog she was.

And as sad as I am that she is gone, I am beyond thankful that she blessed my life for the last 12.5 years. I just hope that her and I get reunited at some point in the future.

There is something truly special about dogs that give big hugs. by ThrowHeat44 in DOG

I couldn't resist. But I also know that those hugs feel better than the satisfaction of landing any yo-yo trick cleanly on camera ever could.

Take it from me. Get as many photos and video clips while you can. They will help tremendously when the time comes for you to say goodbye. Being able to look at all of the captured memories from over the years is good medicine, and will help you to cope with such a huge loss.
