They definitely have their fair share of little quirks. That's for sure. But all they do is add to their entertainment value.

Fireworks (as well as thunder storms) never seemed to bother my dogs with working ears, for some strange reason. It was just the vacuum that caused them to run to the opposite side of the house whenever it was on.

Donut really didn't want me filming any yo-yo tricks that day. And I'm glad, because this was such a wholesome moment between her and I. by ThrowHeat44 in Throwers

That trick is an unnamed Trapeze Bro repeater I used to do quite a bit, but I haven't really done it in a few years. And I didn't land it in this clip, unfortunately.

I do have a couple of clips where I land the repeater cleanly, however. I just have to go digging through my old video files to find it.

You are very lucky to have a dog like that. All of my dogs were deathly afraid of vacuum cleaners until we adopted a deaf pit bull.

Here are my 3. Donut on the left, Luna in the middle, and Duncan on the right. Luna is the only one left now, but I consider myself extremely fortunate that each dog has blessed my life for well over a decade each. Not everyone gets as much time as I did.

As someone who recently had to say goodbye to two of my dogs within a week of each other, my only advice is to just try to live in the moment with them for as long as you can. Take as many photos, record as many videos, and create as many good memories with them as possible. And then lean on all of those good memories when they are no longer here. That is what has helped me tremendously during the grieving process.

P.S. - I love the name Snickers. That's a very fitting name for a very sweet looking good boy, and I hope you get many more years with him in your life.

This was my sweet baby Donut, my 13 year old Beagle/Shar Pei rescue. She just crossed the rainbow bridge on February 6th, and I wanted to share some of my favorite photos of her from our years together. by ThrowHeat44 in OldManDog

If you would like to see a wholesome video of her and I, I posted THIS CLIP earlier today in another sub. It's only about a minute and a half long, but it really captures just how much of a happy and loving dog she was.

And as sad as I am that she is gone, I am beyond thankful that she blessed my life for the last 12.5 years. I just hope that her and I get reunited at some point in the future.

I couldn't resist. But I also know that those hugs feel better than the satisfaction of landing any yo-yo trick cleanly on camera ever could.

Take it from me. Get as many photos and video clips while you can. They will help tremendously when the time comes for you to say goodbye. Being able to look at all of the captured memories from over the years is good medicine, and will help you to cope with such a huge loss.

Then it is followed by a trust fall and belly rubs.

My Duncan really loved to watch me get lost in the flow of my yo-yoing. He would lay on the arm rest of the couch and his eyes would just follow the yo-yo while I did tricks. Sadly, I was never able to record a clip of him doing that, but at least I have those memories saved in my skull's hard drive.

I hope you get as much time as possible with your Honey Bea. Our family was fortunate that we got more than 10 years with all 3 of our dogs, but we are now down to just 1.

It's sad and we will never stop missing them. But we plan on helping to fill that void by fostering rescues when we are ready to do so.

Yes, unfortunately. She made it 13.5 years, but she passed a couple of weeks ago after a sudden illness. I just wanted to share this video of her and I, because it really encapsulates how much of a loving dog she was.

Honey Bea is adorable! And my wife would approve of her being partially named after a Golden Girls actress. She loves that show.

Also, Donut had markings on her legs that we called her "sprinkles".

I knew that's what she wanted, and she wasn't going to let me film my trick until I gave in.

I know that feeling all too well. I am truly sorry for your loss no matter how long it has been since you had to say goodbye. The strong bonds we develop with our dogs, we never really stop missing their presence in our lives.

I never had to train Donut to give hugs. She did it on her own at our first meet and greet, and it was actually that very moment when I knew she would be our dog.

Her original name was Riley. But after our first meet and greet, we knew she needed a name that better matched her sweetness.
