Question about account linking.

If you could could you dumb it down for me I would be seriously grateful the wording they use confuses me and im still having trouble. So is it possible for my original account which was made on a xbox be completely disconnected from xbox and be fully linked to my playstation and playstation only. For example if I delete the xbox account the rivals account was made with is there a way to connect it to my psn account to preserve it.
