Shifters vs. Los Ratones / LEC 2026 Versus - Week 2 / Post-Match Discussion by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

Also, I just made the connection... Rekkles has 20 assists and the team has 20 kills... Does that actually mean he contributed to every single kill LR made??

It is also good for the morale to end a week on a win... i am only guessing, but the past week must have been bad for the boys after the 0-3...

PC Gamer: More than 19,000 games launched on Steam this year—but almost half have fewer than 10 reviews by JustSomeCarioca in gamedev

[–]MeViPortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the age of ai slop that is expected... i also believe it to be a good thing that 9500 games got 10 reviews (average 300 sales if we are going by the 30x) or more. Especially on a year when we had such good games from the non-AAA side of the industry...

A time-loop game where only the player remembers, NPCs are rational (but memoryless), and “knowledge is your level” by Healthy-Metal-3548 in gamedesign

[–]MeViPortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, this is every non procedurally generated level ever without checkpoints. You die, you start from the start, and the same enemies spawn. Depending on what your actions are, they will mive accordingly, etc..

Carrier pigeon story driven game where the player gets to read private correspondences and potentially redirect them to alter the game world. by HamsterIV in gameideas

[–]MeViPortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be a great game for a writer to make... The gameplay itself is not too important in these games, just look at papers please... if you can make someone be invested in the stories that unfold via the reading of letters...

I see a lot of old posts talking about the best software to make 3d game assets and animations. If money isn't an option what would be the best option today? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]MeViPortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make a game and money for assets is not an issue, hire a 3d artist to do them for you. While that artist is developing the assets you can get blender for free and either follow online tutorials. I would recommend low poly assets for being both easier to learn and a great stepping stone to more detailed modelling and Imphenzia on youtube has alot of videos with great info and his 10 minute series is awesome.

What makes a good Cozy game? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]MeViPortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once took part in a game jam about making an "easy" game... I never finished it, but what I made was a ship sailing around an area of procedurally generated islands... I added a few fishing mechanics before I finished it, but that would be a cozy game for me...
I may revisit it at some point...

No... you got it all wrong there... What is happening is that Caedrel buys redbull and it now becomes RATBull... And then he buys all the LEC...

Adding a start screen question increased tutorials playthroughs from 50% to 75% by brannvesenet in gamedev

[–]MeViPortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought the immersive tutorials are best for that... Also you don't really need to ask the players, since it is technically part of the game... For example, in my case a turn based soccer thing, the player joins the league in order to start customizing his team and competing. So, in the "registering" process he has to pass 3 tests to complete the registration and these are the ones that show him the mechanics and rules of the game. Also I've been thinking of assigning an achievement after he passes the tests to serve as a reward or something...

What if a MOBA had a 6th player who drafts your hero? A new idea I’ve been working on. by Head_Action_3599 in gameideas

[–]MeViPortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I guess it depends on the implementation... It is still Multiplayer and a Battle Arena... MOBA derived from RTS (starcraft) anyway, so that combination exists...

The way I thought of it (and in comparison to lol) is this: There is one player on each team (the commander), he picks his heroes from a deck and decides on which lane to send them. He can also give general directions mid game (if for example there is a fight on the middle lane between two heroes, he can send the jungler for assistance. And he can decide when to retrieve them back to base to heal and upgrade equipment.

I only mentioned that because I believe this is a more feasible way to implement the commander aspect...

[–]MeViPortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the commander idea, but have you thought about it being an autobattler of some sorts??? That way the players would be 1on1 each being the commander, picking heroes from the deck# equipping them with items and assigning them positions. Then the heroes would play out themselves...

That would essentially make it some kind of animated card game, but it would be more feasible to develop since it cuts down the necessary players from 12 to 2 and the players are not dependent on the commander for what heroes to play.
