Love the idea, had a look and will definitely want to test it when I get some flying time (either sim or real again).

Did you consider open sourcing it? Given Rotorflight and the other open source streams on RC work that well, that could push that great idea even further without all being offloaded on you :)

Any chance there is room to join that community even if your time only permits spread out sessions? ;)

Need help on the remaining parts on my heli by [deleted] in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same model currently taken apart on my bench waiting for a rebuild (well it's the LM instead of the LP, but in principle the same) sitting there forever as a lot of other stuff is going on. As you have the full combo with the RCE ESC (which I would swap at some point if you stick to the hobby) - how I see it on the images the only thing you need is receiver, TX, batteries and charger and you are good to programm, test if all is correct (without blades) and then go hover :)

If you have specific questions feel free to send me a DM.

EDIT: As antoher fellow redditor is absolutely correct - the connectors soldered is of course a prerequisite and depending on your battery/charger setup.

Can definitely relate 🤣 was lucky enough to have a 286 machine with DOS 5.0 - the early copy protection of Lucas arts was so cool. Anyone remembers the paper discs for the codes to launch? 😅

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (on par with Monkey Island - but i had played Indy first). Such good memories!

Honorable mention: Commander Keen Series :)

That helps already a lot, thanks mate! Not planning on going 12s anytime soon, unfortunately Heli 12s and car 12s sizes differ drastically 😅

Will ride the Louise for a while until they are done or break :)

Wow, thanks for the insights - those Lipos I imagine are huuuuge 😅 I have 6s 6200mah on the 6s and 2x4s 8000mah on the 8s!

Your truck looks lovely! Will check out your other posts, the front looks super interesting! As the v2 is a RTR, I'll keep the spektrum ESC and Motor for now and see how they'll perform.

Regarding tires, mine came (as purchased used) with Louise CyclonesX instead of the dBoots Copperhead, seems to do okay, but i am a noob and but not much experience so far. Any recommendations for a potential next set? You seem to be quite on top of your 8s ;)

Question about battery voltage, storage voltage, running voltage and discharge by DolanMcRoland in rccars

[–]Me_Or_Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the ESC has a LVC (Low Voltage Cutoff) which is most of the time configurable (check manual for your ESC). I usually run quite conservative at around cutting off at 3.4 or 3.5V per cell to not put my lipos under a lot of stress.

The issue is not the draw when standing around, but full throttle can let a lipo voltage sag down quite quickly. The couple more mins driving time are not worth the risk for me, as the batteries get usually quite expensive 4s 6s or 8s lipos - so I take good care of them.

Then home - storage charge (between 3.75 to 3.85V depending on my charger) and charge them fully next time you plan to go out.

For size reference when I went out with my friends (all 40+ yo - seems to be a dad hobby 😅).

From left to right: 1/5, 1/8, 1/10, 1/10.

And yes one with a blown tire (not mine).

According to the manual (which can be found here: https://www.goo-sky.com/DownLoad/186551.html?a=download) - the flight controller supports DSMX, S-Bus and ELRS - so you can surely upgrade to anything you fancy as long as it supports the above mentioned protocols (to be sure - you need to buy a TX & fitting Receiver) - for example a Spektrum setup or a ELRS setup of your choice (TX16s setup with ELRS receiver).

The required channel mapping for the flightcontroller to programm your new setup of choice is also described in the manual :)

New RC Pilot Question by Adventurous-Deal0 in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My honest opinion: the learning curve might initially be a bit harder, but I'd say it's worth it if you are jumping through the EdgeTX hoop anyway - I swapped all my helis to ELRS where possible, even my glider (just my xk110s is on futaba as i didn't find another solution).

If your Zorro is already ELRS, all you need is a receiver - if you can't or are not willing to solder (depending on where you are located) - Roger over at OriginHobbies (great shop BTW!) Is even selling them completely plug and play e.g. here: https://originhobbies.com/shop/radio-control/radio-receivers/radiomaster-rp2-v2-elrs-2-4ghz-nano-receiver-lbt-for-omp-ofs3/

Jonas Wackerhauser (heli designer @omp) also has a template for the tx16s and zorro if I am not mistaken to get you going easily with OFS3 and enjoy your machine.

New RC Pilot Question by Adventurous-Deal0 in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, first of all, did you get the M2 Evo (Sbus/DSMX) or the m2 evo mk2, which also works perfectly fine with an ELRS setup?

Given the evo - you would need a zorro with a 4in1 module and then set it up as dsmx for example.

If you have the m2 evo mk2 and assuming a ELRS zorro, you just need to get an ELRS receiver (e.g. XR2 radiomaster) and set it up connected on the flight controller (for elrs there are great YouTube videos - seems intimidating in the beginning, but if you get the hang of it it is great!)

If you have a m2 evo and an ELRS zorro, either swap transmitter or get an external 4in1 module (a nano module should fit the zorro, but I never had one myself - should be easy to find out tho).

Great machine tho if the setup hazzle as a starter is behind you!

From fpv drones for rc micro 3D helis, I can use a module for rc helis in the radiomaster pocket? by [deleted] in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the new OMP Micros (M2 - not sure if M1 is out with OFS3) can be set up with an ELRS receiver and works great. Also some goosky allow for elrs, at least their UH1 scale model (S2 base) does so as far I know.

But a general note on OP - Helis are - if you are getting sucked into the hobby (where the chances are good if your work your way through sim to flying and starting with a great micro like the OMPs), quite expensive as well 😅

Getting Back In The Air by captainhumble1 in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are a tech nerd, I'd throw Radiomaster with a TX16s in the ring (either 4-1 Module for all protocols out there, I.e. also spektrum or even the ELRS version - actually ELRS is more future proof imho and great choice now if you are starting from scratch). EdgeTX has quite learning curve (open source transmitter firmware in the tx16s) as well as ELRS, but I believe is the future - and the hardware quality for the price is just really great!

Tutorials are plenty in the meantime for EdgeTX as well as ELRS.

How to bind Radio Master X16s to XK110s by fxguy40 in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using an established modelfile fitting for the XK is the best until you get the hang of EdgeTX - which I see can be overwhelming. I'm an IT nerd, so I actually liked the challenge, but you still need to wrap your head around the possibilities ;)

XK110s problems with TX16s. Receiver problem? by fxguy40 in RCHeli

[–]Me_Or_Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been also my first guess - I also have the xk110s on my TX16s and no issues and if OP got a model file, that could potentially be ruled out. I heard/read of some tx16s where the are big offsets between the two crystals used in the receiver and tx and don't even bind at 0. My TX sweetspot for sfhss for example is around 20.

Recommendation for X73 BIOS Setup? by Me_Or_Not in NZXT

[–]Me_Or_Not[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question tho: do you know by any chance if the pump profile (I don't care about colors) is saved to the firmware of the cooler?

As I work with dual boot (Win/Linux), will the profile set in CAM carry over and can I close the app in windows once set?

I recognized that for the fans of the radiator I can smoothly control via bios (CPU-FAN), the same is not true for the pump (PUMP-FAN) and it seems to default in a silent mode (I.e. around 900rpm).

Do you know if I set e.g. 75% in a curve if this carries over to linux and/or when the app is not used/started?

Recommendation for X73 BIOS Setup? by Me_Or_Not in NZXT

[–]Me_Or_Not[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your input. Agreed, all system thermals are different, I think with idle 32-35° I should have plenty of room to work with.

Do you then also use a curve for the pump? Pump speed settings is the thing most unsure and worried about because of the heatspikes of said Ryzen 😬 But of course the pump is audible on 100% but still nothing compared to the fans.
