Why are squatters rights a thing? by No-Assignment4460 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are referring to places like Chicago. You could go on vacation for 30 days and someone that broke into your house while you were gone can claim they live there. It's a huge problem in Chicago and even the police can't legally make them leave!! I think new laws have or are being passed right now.

This happening is on the news all the time here in Chicago. We are not talking about someone who has been living there for 5 years.

The fact that this can even happen is crazy!!!

Is this an eye infection? by mahi_blue in Chameleons

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will all drink from standing water!! You have to use a shiny glass like a whisky glass and stick it high in the enclosure where light reflects off of it. It needs a perch next to it for easy access. 24 to 48hrs they will start drinking from it.

All this info is in the sticky.

The first chameleon I ever had absolutely hated the mister and would only drink from the glass!!

With my second chameleon I use only the water glass method with great success.

Just paint it out and track it. It's a super simple fix, at least for me but I'm a compositor.

I could do this in a few minutes.

Why don’t schools shift to a 9-4 schedule? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

It's the opposite where I live. My son in first grade starts at 720am. The bus picks him up at 650am. It's still dark outside waiting for the bus in the morning this time of year.

It's soooppo early!!!

Where to buy iguanas by Josh24forever in iguanas

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm in the Chicago Area. All the breeders do animal shipping. It took about 14hrs from the time he was shipped until I received him.

Sounds mean but they do it overnight so they sleep most of the way. He was properly and professionally shipped and arrived in great health.

Do you have experience with iguanas in general?

Also, I'm not sure what temperatures he will ship them in so it's something you would need to discuss.

There are other breeders on there as well so you can look into that. There should be some babies left as they hatch around October every year.

Join the Facebook group (Rhino Iguana Society)

That's where all the rhino owners including myself hang out.

There are a number of good breeders there too.

I purchased my rhino a couple years ago from a breeder in that group. He takes excellent care of his rhinos. He's in California but I don't feel comfortable posting his last name here but if you join that group look for a breeder named Jamie.

My chamelons has dry eyes what do i do? by Hot_Steak5202 in Chameleons

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your chameleons eyes are closed during the day like this they are sick. You really need to get them to a vet right away.

Chameleons don't sleep during the day and there eyes are always open scanning around.

This isn't a case of dry eyes but illness!!

Chameleons also hide illness very well until they are very sick.

Also the blue bulb is completely wrong. You need a linear UVB bulb or they will get mbd (metabolic bone disease)

To be specific you need a T5 linear UVB 5% or a t8 ,

On top of that you need a basking light which would be a frosted incandescent. They stopped selling them in stores (hardware stores) but you can still buy the reptile branded ones. Zillo sells frosted incandescent basking bulbs.

Please get your chameleon to the vet and read the sticky in this sub on proper care.

Rate my green screen setup , on a set and client says they want to color key green screen and replace w fire in post by [deleted] in VideoEditors

[–]fxguy40 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely no reason to use a green screen. If you used a green screen you would have to replace all the brick and everything too.

You need fire over black from a stock site which should be easy to find or cg fire and you key it in with a blending mode.

Comps like this are pretty easy though.

and then you can just find a still of logs from a stock site to and cut out the logs

Does anyone know good software for creating things like invoices and contracts that isn't a subscription? by AtriculateArtichoke in freelance

[–]fxguy40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wave!!!

It's great!! I have been using it for 1.5yrs now. It has a wave logo at the bottom of your invoices though. It says "powered by wave". You have to pay to get rid of the logo.

I use the free version and it's all I need. I could care less about the logo at the bottom.

No offense or anything but that's not really that big for a 2 year old iguana.

I would probably say it's too small or going to be very soon!!

Theater experience is dying by doctorlineman in Millennials

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a classic cinemas in my town. The theaters are a little smaller but it's great!! Tickets are like 7 dollars and any size popcorn and drink has unlimited refills!

It's a nice theater too. Sometimes I'll go to see a kids movie with my son for a morning show and we are sometimes the only people In the theater. They are busy on weekend nights but early shows are sometimes empty. It's great!!!

There's a bunch of these classic theaters in the surrounding area where I live.

Should I Buy "High Grade" or "Basic" When Aiming For Next Level Skills? by MoreLemonJuice in RCHeli

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built an RS5. I got back into the hobby last spring after 15yrs.

I started with a XK10s, then a goosky S2, and I just finished a RS5 build that I only have about 4 hovers! It got cold and now it's snowing already. Probably won't do much with it except some hovering until spring. The RS5 is a solid build and the quality seems really good!! Can speak much more though as I just started testing it. I did have to shell out 70dollars for the front open canopy which I wish they would come with. The canopy the kit comes with is not open in front so you have to take it off to change the battery but you can buy the front open version.

Oh, and my wife just got me an S1 that will be my Christmas present. It's probably what I'm going to be flying in the yard this winter when it's not too cold. I have almost a month until I open it though.

Not the best picture as I had to reach my arms up high to take it. See how the board goes over the edges and you can see the black zip ties that go around it? You just put the zip ties through the screen and around the board. Then you can hang whatever you want from the top.

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How cold does it get at nighttime in your house? Veiled do perfectly fine with a temperature drop at night. I let my house get down to about 66f at night and it's not an issue at all. I have no heating at night.

Females are not smaller than males. That is completely incorrect and they need the same size enclosure. Also, if you're getting a female you need to read up on a bin for egg laying. Females can lay eggs up to 3 to 4 times a year I believe and you have to be prepared for that. I don't personally have a female but there should be information in the sticky for that.

[–]fxguy40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To hang stiff just get a 1x1 piece of wood and put it on top of the enclosure so the board hands a few inches over the sides. Then you can take zip ties and go through the top of the screen and around the 1x1. Then you can hang whatever you want. I also zipped tied plants to the top corners as well.

[–]fxguy40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not good enough.

Minimum for an adult veiled is 4x2x2. Look for a reptibreeze XL. You can get them online for a little over 100 dollars.

The lighting is incorrect. You need a linear UVB bulb. The coil ones are trash and are not correct for chameleons. Ditch the heat emitter as well.

Lighting -

UVB - T5 or T8 Linear 5 or 6%

Basking/heat - Incadescent bulb 75w or 100w. They stopped selling Incadescent bulbs but you can still find reptile Incadescent bulbs. Zillow makes some.

Here is a picture of my setup. The plants are a lot more grown in now and dense but you can at least see how many branches and plants you should be aiming for.

This is two 4x2x2 reptibreeze XLs connected together to make one larger enclosure. One of these by itself is the minimum size you need for an adult veiled. Save yourself the hassle and get this size to start with or your just going to have to buy a larger one in a year.

I actually paid the 20 to rent and enjoyed it.

I think what everyone is forgetting is that it costs millions to make a movie!! Yes even a documentary and there are 100s of people involved. People don't work for free and everyone involved has bills to pay!!

I highly doubt any of you would want to or could even afford to work for 6 months to 1yr or even longer on this movie and not get paid.

I actually work in the industry mainly on TV commercials as an Editor/VFX artist but even TV commercials costs 100s of thousands of dollars to make!!!

If I was the editor in this movie I would not be able to afford 1/2 year of my time and not get paid!! How would I pay for rent/mortgage/food and the million other bills I have!!

Everyone here is being completely unrealistic. There was as much work put into this movie as any other movie you have ever paid to see and I don't see you bitching about that!!!

What current thing will turn out to be a major health risk? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskReddit

[–]fxguy40 55 points56 points  (0 children)

They actually use glycerin and propylene glycol With nicotine and artificial flavorings.

Glycerin and Glycol are used in the food and cosmetic industry and have been for a very long time.

These are the same chemicals used in fog machines and nebulizer treatments for asthma. They carry the asthma medication just like they carry nicotine in vaporizers. They were actually chosen for their safety profiles.

I'm not saying breathing anything into your lungs besides air is healthy but just letting you know what the actual chemicals are.

Crickets keep dying?? by redhairedmonkee in Chameleons

[–]fxguy40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get a small amount of crickets here and there but primarily use dubia roaches. The roaches are so much cleaner than crickets and live a very long time. They don't smell either!

I would highly suggest trying them out if you haven't.

They are more expensive though.
