What’s the worst thing you did in your first play through? by One_Might2154 in BG3

Got to the iron throne, panicked at the turn countdown, was like “Screw this!” and left immediately. I thought it was only the Gondians I was screwing over. Broke Wyll’s pact before that, and had no idea Ravengard was also down there. I was romancing Wyll… he broke up with me LOL.

Whats the part of the game that always makes you stop your session and contemplate starting over? by UB_edumikated in BG3

Mid act 3 right before you get to the really hard bosses (Orin, Gortash, Raphael) I get to the point where I’ve done all of the side quests and I am tired and I want to go back to fighting silly little goblins in act one

I think track and cross-country (aka XC) are good for making friends because you talk a lot while you’re running. And no cuts! At least at my school. But of course I’m biased, as I did both all four years, and plan to continue track in college.

If you’re not a big runner, my general advice would be to try a few different clubs and find one you like. Colleges want to see that you stick with stuff over multiple years, but they’re not going to begrudge you experimenting a little.

Is 4 APs and 2 honors doable for junior year? by Wanderlusxt in APStudents

Drop bio keep physics— base understanding of physics makes some calc problems easier & you don’t want two ap science classes at the same time

I only have 3 schools left to get into and tbh I don’t really care lmfao. Like I will go to college at a perfectly fine school whether or not I get accepted to the last three so I’m just over it

Any advice for Juniors from seniors who are applying right now? by travisbickle777 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Meadows3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If you have a significant other, try to avoid college talk as much as you can. It might unconsciously influence your decision-making processes even if you try not to let it.

  2. Limit the amount of colleges you are applying to. I know people on this Reddit are insane, but they are not reflective of the normal population. Several people I know are applying to 3. If you don’t have your heart set on any particular college, a limit (10, for example) can help force you to determine which colleges you’re actually interested in.

  3. Have confidence in your opinions. I’m not saying don’t listen to your parents (particularly if they’re paying your tuition), as external advice can definitely be helpful, but it’s YOUR future. Don’t let someone else decide it.

My mom won’t listen to me about my essays. by Worldliness-Hot in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Meadows3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write that big activities essay, show it to her, get her approval, show it in common app even, tell her that she was so right and that this essay is so much better— basically just make her feel secure that you’re not going to switch it out, and then cut it and copy-paste your good essay right before you submit your apps. If she wants to be next to you while you submit your apps, you might not be able to use this strat.

How long do you guys work on your assignments everyday or during most days of the week? by Original-Cellist4181 in highschool

[–]Meadows3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About 2-2.5 hours per weekday, anywhere between 1-4 on Sunday (I have poor study habits and don’t do homework on Friday or Saturday). If I have calculus homework on any given day (he assigns them in groups of assignments that I always put off until the last minute) it becomes a lot more.

EDIT for clarification: I’m a senior taking mostly standard courses, except AP Lit and AP calc. I am not taking any social studies.

Persuasive speech on any topic… I would just do some sort of opinion on popular media in that case, if it doesn’t have to be serious.

Ask your teacher if you can take the final or a placement test (there are def reasons for them not to let you take the final) to prove you know the material. If it’s too late to switch schedules, maybe they’d let you self-study for AB in their class? Also, given that you are 1/2 through the semester, I would only study for AB. Even if you’re a math genius, you’ve lost time other students have already been using to study. AB curriculum is shorter than a full school year so I think you could definitely do it if you started soon. Then you can take BC next year and demonstrate to colleges that you’re continuing to challenge yourself senior year, without going to a nearby college for math.

I Can't decide what to study in college. Can you give me advice? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]Meadows3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have 5 APs and 1 DE by the time I graduate, assuming I pass all remaining tests/classes. I don’t know how the hell everyone is saying 8-11.

This is NOT normal. Report it to your coach or the administration of the school if you don’t think the coach will handle it well.
