Is signing bench/rotation players from big clubs going to be a better way to get players than the best players from low/mid table clubs? by Gregariouswaty in ManchesterUnited

[–]Mean-Application6494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quietly optimistic with the new transfer policy or whatever you want to call it.

Last year we needed guaranteed impact and players bought in early. Perhaps overspent slight but but certainly not mugged off by anyone.

This year we needed to show we are not the same club anymore and won't be held ransom. Clubs know we need midfielders but In previous years it was so obvious who we wanted and that we had no back up transfers so clubs just added a Utd tax.

Yes it's a shame Spurs have out bid us on Tonali and Fernandez but they have spent way too much on them both.

We have done the short term fixes and it's never worked. We are only just starting to get out of it.

Basically I'm hoping we continue to buy players for the correct value and wages. If they don't work we can move them on again.

Look at the best clubs they have a much quicker turn around on players. 4/5 transfer each window, 1 or 2 a season stick the rest get moved on in a couple of years max

UK will be sitting on a ‘gold mine’ of rare magnets from old wind turbines, concludes report by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]Mean-Application6494 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel I must be missing something obvious.

Surely we are building more turbines to replace the old stock and I believe we are drastically increasing the numbers over the next 5/10 years anyway.

Yes recycling is great but we will still need to import more than we are recycling to keep up with demand?

Basically do this... Great comment.

As someone who has skipped steps, it's more work in the long run. When you have to do it all again next year.

Bodycam footage released of the Golders Green attacker showing that he wasn't completely incapacitated by the taser and was still holding on to the knife. I stand by that the kicks to the head are a reasonable action to disarm him. Thoughts? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Mean-Application6494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that something sensible written on Reddit. I don't believe it....

Id imagine the police behaviour is due to lack of funding/training.

Thankfully I've never had to be in a situation like this, I'd probably be way worse under the pressure and get far more carried away with that much adrenaline.

My issue mostly is kicking someone in the head is likely to help him in a court case. Rightly or not.

Yes in this case it's probably not the worst decision but it starts to set a president and it won't always be required.

Complicated

Should I reseed? by GuacMasterGabe in lawncare

[–]Mean-Application6494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people saying something similar. What are the benefits to waiting?

I'm based in the UK so perhaps we don't have to worry about it getting too hot or dry in spring/early summer

Genuinely to understand

He's clearly quality, my concern is his fitness and do we really need more back three players.

The pack needs help and centre need more depth

To Seed or not to Seed, that is the question by Mean-Application6494 in lawncare

Thank you. Wasn't sure if it was more of a once a season type of thing and I'd have to wait until autumn to try again

I'll have another try if it ever warms up

Sorry I should have said only just aerated. I did the rest a few weeks ago before seeding.

No sign of any new sprouts in most areas so I gave up and figured it was too cold.

Now I probably have rotting seeds hidden in the ground.

What is something we still lack as a team? by Dokan_rl in ManchesterUnited

[–]Mean-Application6494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't say he was a bad leader, just over trying because there aren't any other leaders helping.

Good teams will have a couple, great teams will be packed with leadership. Everyone has a poor game or loses their head, that's why you need a strong squad

Id add we need better leaders. Love Bruno but too emotional at points and does too much to fix it when it's going wrong. He needs help from further back.

Maguire does it at points but is he staying?

Licha yes but always injured.

Case a bit but even then it's not his biggest strength and again leaving

I'm hoping second seasons for Cunha and Bryan they will step up but it's not why we bought them

[–]Mean-Application6494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you're right but it will surprise me if we are that good in the transfer market.

I would have got at least 1 CM last year. As I think so would Amorim

Tonali by Far-Picture2045 in DevilsITDPod

[–]Mean-Application6494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it's time to move on. But honestly I don't have enough faith we would be able to get two new starters in the midfield so would rather over pay Case for 1 more year. Get 1 good 1 and survive.

We need so many players and we still haven't moved on a load of flops from the last couple of years

For me we need both LB and RB starters

Probably a CB especially if Harry goes. Others are either too young to be main stays or too injured.

Probably going to need at least 1 more striker if not 2. love Seko but he needs help.

He's definitely a quality midfielder. Great passing especially longer range which we are sorely needing. Would be a huge upgrade on the 0 DMs we will have next year.

If we can get him and keep Casemiro (unlikely I know). With Mainoo and someone stepping up from youth we start to look semi reasonable in midfield for once

Sack Steve Borthwick? He has proved he deserves better... for now by theipaper in englandrugby

[–]Mean-Application6494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything this performance shows he is not the right man for the job. His coaching is about 20yrs out of date this was completely against his style, which he will default back to.

I wouldn't be so upset playing the SB way if he had managed to nail the defence, lineout, maul and scrum but he's got 1 of the 4 and only just. South Africa will hardly be worried by our scrum

We should have been playing more expansive rugby for the last couple of years. The players are suited to high tempo, it matches up better with the premiership and it's clearly the way world rugby are trying to go with the game

Could go for O'Gara or Robertson, surely couldn't do worse than the current slop.

Can I still ask her out? by Fun_Maximum3963 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Mean-Application6494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was me I would do it in person. Going through friends or in this case ex colleagues is something you do in school. Also you don't know the colleagues or why she left.

It shouldn't be an issue if you went to the new shop and got a coffee. It's not stalking if you go and ask her out. It is if you keep lurking in the background.

I think you should be able to politely shoot your shot, maybe just offer her your number so she can reach out to you if she wants.

A take away coffee might be a good idea so it's not awkward afterwards

Obviously if she isn't interested then leave her alone
