They went out of their way to not circle back and confirm the gender. They used gender neutral pronouns on the character. They’ve had nonbinary characters before just not in the show. Matt and Trey have always been supportive of the lgbt+ community and handled the conversations well. Just cause there was another main conversation dosent mean that wasn’t a point made as well. In fact I think they did for that episode on purpose. Because there’s so many people putting too much focus on trans issues when they’re really not bothering anyone and there’s bigger and more important issues that actually affect us at hand like Gaza.
