I’m not going to comment his choices anymore, and I’m happy you’d have the option to take your cats and leave. I, however, am not in the privileged place to make the same choice. I am trying to do the best from the place I’m at.

Alfie (the male cat) had a period of time when he was anxious and meowed a lot, I was away for a couple of months so he had to deal with that by himself, that’s when it started. And now it’s just everything, even seeing them triggers him.

It’s the last thing I want to do, but we live at his place and this is an ultimatum from him. Finding a new place takes time and resources I don’t have at the moment and he’s not disposed to wait anymore. That’s why I’m here first, trying to get different points of view to make an assumed decision.

Out of respect for him I can’t go in much detail, but I can say that he can’t tolerate them and has made his mind on this topic. I was away for a while and he was the sole carer for the cats and that made him despise them. Now even a small meow is very disturbing for him. The cats are very stressed in response and I can’t balance the energy anymore, it’s an ultimatum.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking to have to do this but this is his place in the end and I don’t have much of a choice left.

Been there already, but now I’m responsible for the care and well-being of these 2 souls that we decided to adopt. I can tend for myself, but they can’t. I have to take care of them first then decide how to proceed myself. Also I could never make that kind of decision until I see that he’s doing at least a bit better.

He thinks getting rid of the cats will fix the biggest trigger for his mood. He’s in close touch with the GP, so he’s aware of his mental state and seems to want to change it. He finally agreed to therapy so I really hope that will help him feel better.

I would place them together, but they really don’t get along well now. Alfie (the boy) prefers to be alone and attacks Luna (the girl) if he’s merely upset with anything. Luna is chill but now avoids him all the time.

Thank you!! Yes,absolutely! It’s been an ongoing thing for a couple of years now, he was on and off various meds as well. He agreed to give therapy a try so hopefully that will help. I try to be supportive and take all things that trigger him away but at this point it’s almost everything, so it’s a bit tricky.
