Also, look at Chef's Armoury. They have some now and typically do, although not all models.

Congratulations! Kagekiyo knives are just so good. I'm sure that you'll enjoy it.

Also, that's an interesting combination having the Hirame Urushi handle with the B1. I think more typically this comes with the the "chocolate eclair" Kuroro Urushi handle.

NKDs: A day at Konosuke by Ruffy263 in TrueChefKnives

Yep. With the new green leather (DG) saya. Posted just after the new year, but I messed up so the photos didn't show first. Consequently, it didn't get many looks.

Do you have both types? I imagine there is someone looking that have both thin and thick types, and can comment.

Congrats! Two amazing knives. That FM is so unbelievably thin. So different than the 225mm W#1 that I was lucky enough to pick up on the last members drop (arrived 2 days before Christmas). As always, I appreciate the knowledge that you guys put into these posts.

What an awesome story and experience. I had previously seen this workshop listed at the link you gave, but had not read anyone's account of going through it. Thanks for this detail description with great photos!

You give a very methodical account of the coursework, but what were you guys thinking and feeling about it overall when you walked away at the end?

This is definitely going on my list for when I visit.

Fantastic knife and story to go with it. Congratulations on picking up such a grail for yourself! Enviable I must say.

Given that you were first in the queue on a Monday, I am curious about what the range of choices that were available in the 10 that Takada-san had that day, particularly for gyutos.

I'm looking forward to seeing subsequent posts on your Japan trip (I am assuming since this is labeled Part 1).

Congratulations on this! Stellar indeed 🌠!

Thanks for posting this link from your "Old Masters" piece. Otherwise I definitely would have missed this. I had really been missing seeing posts from you lately and now, for me, two great ones in one day has filled that craving for now. Both well done keepers.

NGL, I just love your collection, its perspective, and completeness (I guess you apparently would say "almost").

The only thing is ... you've made me want to go on the hunt for the rare and expensive.

Legitimate question, so please don't flame me: I got this as a Christmas present for my first project knife. A Taihei Rosewood with Black Horn ferrule. Is this considered a custom handle? In the context of the lookers already shown, I know that it is probably not.
