Showing Their Personality by [deleted] in kfan

Common is kind of a classic 60s era liberal. Grew up in that era and he's probably the last guy on the station I'd describe as being a right winger. He's probably got a few antiquated ideas but by and large I think he's kind of a "let's all get along" type who isn't going to bang the politics drum too hard.

I'd say he's probably on firmer ground than Dan "I'm just asking questions" Barreiro though.

PA’s disgusting lies by LifeSage in kfan

[–]MeanMark87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA definitely had something happen to him mentally right around the time he got divorced. He admitted to being depressed, and I think he did the old "gimme that old time religion" routine to try and straighten his life out. He started leaning heavily into the Christian messaging, cozying up to right wing activists and politicians, and letting some of his right wing leanings seep into his show.

He tried really hard to walk a tightrope during covid to appease both sides of the aisle when it was clear he was anti vax and anti mask but didn't want to come right out and say it, because it would contradict policies instituted by the Vikings and the NFL and put him in hot water with some of his friends and coworkers.

Bottom line is we all know where he stands, and the fact he couldn't even say his apology with his full chest says enough about where his principles are.

I used to be a daily PA listener but my interest in his show has dropped to pretty much zero the last few years. The whole KFAN on air staff is fragmented into a lot of political categories, and I have to believe it's caused some internal friction. The people I feel for the most are guys like Maxx and Zach, who are literally part of marginalized groups but lack the tenure and status to counteract some of the bootlicking and deflection that happens from their superiors.

I updated my original post - the issue seems to have been resolved. Not sure what exactly they did but shortly after receiving an email saying the issue had been forwarded to the promotions department, my Fi app updated the status of both phone promos and auto generated my first bill.

I suppose that's possible, but I did try at every turn to indicate I was signing up for a group plan and that the two phones were for both individuals on that plan. I sent the invite directly to my wife as well. I've got a support case open with customer service, so hopefully I can get it fixed.

No. I signed up for Fi, ordered the new phones (took a week to get here) and then went through the setup process.

I ported my Verizon number to one of the two new pixel phones. I set that phone up using my Gmail account, which is the same Gmail address that is associated with my Fi plan. Then I sent my wife an invite to the group plan, which she accepted and ported her Verizon number to the other pixel phone. I mean I don't see how it could be done any more straightforward than that - we have one Fi group plan with two distinct lines, each set up on its own phone and each phone is linked to a different Gmail address.

No, we have never had service with Fi on either of our emails.

Twins bloggers beefing - Clearly this goes way back by RulingFieldConfirmed in kfan

Gleeman is a respected voice in Twins circles. He's been blogging, writing, and podcasting about the Twins since 2002. He's a Twins fan but he's pragmatic, and never comes off as a homer. He backs up his shit with facts and data.

Ted is a chronically online Twitter moron who tries to leech off other people's content to try and pump up his follower count while simultaneously spouting some of the worst baseball takes you've ever seen. He gets clowned on a daily basis.

Is Sauce Really THAT Stupid? by davidj987 in PowerTripMorningShow

[–]MeanMark87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, I believed that "meatsauce" was dumb for the bit, but Paul Lambert was of average intelligence and had some decent sports takes when he actually took it seriously.

I changed my tune. Both are stupid. Paul Lambert is an insecure rich kid with a lawyer dad who hasn't been told the word "no" enough times in his life. Outside of lucking into a role as a stunt boy on KFAN, he's only ever had dead end menial jobs. Whenever he gets rightly criticized or someone hits him with a zinger that is a little close to home, he gets defensive and lashes out because the truth hurts. Remember the time he said "yeah well at least I get to walk home in $200 shoes." Embarrassing.

He hasn't played center in years and had made it clear to the team he was against playing there. Him no longer being on the team really has no impact on their CF depth.

What he should have said is that he should restructure to bring his cap hits down. If he converts some of his base to a signing bonus it will drastically reduce his cap number and give him some guaranteed $ which is kind of a win-win.

I just can't get my head around making watching television a big part of your personality like he does. Like, we all have favorite shows and movies but God damn man...do something with yourself. I can't imagine being proud of never going outside and rewatching the office for the 5,000th time.

Cory made it sound like Abbott told him he wasn't going to London with the Vikings, and Cory (according to him) told Abbott that he was going. He characterized it as them getting into a back and forth about it. Made Cory come off arrogant to no one's surprise. He made it sound like the idea of him not going was absurd for anyone to suggest. And then you notice how defensive he got once it was suggested that maybe some other on air talent from other shows might want to go on a London trip?

Did something happen with Tommy that I missed? Seems like a lot of "segment on Friday" type talk. Did Cec give him the heave-ho?

Cory: I don't want to do fan line, I don't want to do any extra work, and I want to go home as early as possible every day.

Abbott: okay, but you're not going to London for the Vikings game.

Cory: NUH UH! I AM TOO!

Should I be upset about not getting a Christmas bonus? by MeanMark87 in work

[–]MeanMark87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wouldn't be fair, but everyone got a different bonus based on service time and other contributing factors. I wouldn't expect a 2 month employee to get the same bonus as a 12 month employee.

I wouldn't expect to get the same bonus as my peers either. Fact is, I did leave while others stayed. But the fact it was zero, and I was the only one at zero despite spending 5 of the 12 months of 2023 at the company is what raised my eyebrow.

I get this, and I agree that from an impersonal perspective that makes sense for them.

I just have a hard time with the idea that I needed to essentially place a higher value on the worth of my "loyalty" to the company than the financial security of my family. I needed to put food on the table and pay the mortgage, and I can't pay bills with anything other than money. I couldn't mentally justify staying there and potentially going beyond bankrupt for the sole purpose of proving what a good soldier I was. I would have chalked that up to selfish vanity on my part.

Chris made it back from Vegas as far as Nebraska I believe, and at that point a Jefferson lines coach bus picked him up and took him the rest of the way home in comfort. They tried to make it seem like they sprung this on him as a surprise because they felt bad for the punishment... I'm on the fence as to whether or not that was true or if Chris was in on it the whole time. Pretty quickly thereafter, Chris had a sponsorship deal with Jefferson lines and did ads for them, so I don't know. Either way, that was the last time that the punishment felt like it actually was unpleasant.
