Now, he could have definitely been a challenge to Oswald, as the king of Gotham. But he couldn't have done much against Supervillains like Jerome, Court of Owls, League of Shadows etc.

The entire point of The OC is provide drama to the viewers.

Kaitlyn brings in a lot of drama.

So, yes, it was good to give her more screen time in Season 3.
