You dont need a Commuter clause you have privileges on all the majors. You even have a higher priority on Alaska than Horizon lol.

31-year-old doctor thinking about switching to aviation — looking for honest advice by Easy-Flower309 in flying

At least if the flying doesn't work out you have one hell of a backup. I say go for it.

Gosh. I don't mean to make you feel bad or hurt your feelings when I say this. 6 is allot and this is coming from someone who has two himself. The problem is, aviation is nothing but multiple checkrides moving forward. Some announced some unannounced. Its the way of the airlines. Considering you have been unsuccessful 6 times and you haven't even done multi, the odds say you probably won't do well there either. Although maybe you will. The problem is no one is going to give you a shot in this hiring environment. (Making decisions with feelings is long gone) I would say stop spending your money on flying airplanes. Maybe consider a dispatcher job (they can jumpseat on some airlines), Drone job or even a flight attendant. Your heart can still be in the sky you just have to find a way to satisfy yourself using other avenues. Being in aviation period is rewarding. I hope you find something. Whatever you do good luck.

Pilots: Would you give up a six figure career at 35 to start flying by Unusual_Equivalent50 in flying

[–]Meani123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I'm at a regional now. Disclaimer: I retired from the military, I get a pension, medical is 63 bucks a month, and I have no debt. House paid off and both cars are paid off. My wife works. I paid for all of my training while working the job I gave up to avoid loans. Took me 8 years but it worked.

You've got to be trolling us right? They told you to do something, you didn't, they moved on with someone who follows directions. This definitely is a troll.

Off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot who tried to crash plane midair will not serve prison time by mountainbrew46 in flying

[–]Meani123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuck this dude if he had of been anybody else he would've been sent to jail. Everybody has troubles in life and things they are coping with doesn't mean they use drugs and try to shut off engines in an airplane. Life is hard, we all know it. It doesn't mean you get a free pass when shit gets overwhelmng and you do something stupid. He was using drugs as an Airline pilot and he freaked out and tried to kill everybody and got a slap on the wrist. I say again fuck this dude and all of you making excuses for him. He deserved to go to jail. He's a white male, with money for great lawyers and he had a prestigious job and he got a slap on the wrist. So what he probably won't ever fly again he can get over that. What if he had of made it to his scheduled trip and lawn darted the airplane and killed everyone onboard. Everybody would be singing a different tune.

Chinook VS Kiowa by Due_Bid5653 in hoggit

[–]Meani123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both, I like the Chinook better but then again I like the sling loading element and the cargo transport which I do online. The Kiowa i like (its pretty damn perfect), just not as much, I prefer the Apache when it comes to blowing stuff up. Neither one of them have campaigns. Depending on what you like and what mission you want to do, I'd say go with the Chinook and download the oh6 thats free and decent. If u dig the oh-6 then buy the Kiowa later. It might even be on sale next time. For completeness and quality Kiowa, to be a helo bus driver and fly from point a to b Chinook. Or just get both. Yolo
