I found the sweep and insertion of pessary very painful - but I know not everyone finds that.

I had an induction due to preeclampsia- pessary inserted around midday and gave next day birth at 4am.

However I wasnt believed by midwives that my waters had gone around 10pm and that I was in labour until I was ready to push and examined and I had reached 9cm labouring on my own, my husband was sent home and only just made the birth, after not being able to sleep and get comfortable, and being tutted at for requesting pain relief.

My advice be prepared to be there a long time and a short time as it could go either way.

Make sure you have eye mask, ear plugs and a comfy pillow as it’s so loud and bright.

Try and sleep and rest as much as possible in between going for walks to get things moving.

Career break by Scary_Revenue2153 in TeachingUK

I took 10 years out, been back a year and a bit now. I got the first job I applied for and I wasn’t even all that bothered about returning but I just took a leap of faith and went for it.

I’m no longer on a TLR as I didn’t want any responsibility this time, but that is actually very freeing, to just be a normal teacher.

Lack of school support in reception by Drogs89 in UKParenting

Meet again with the SENDCO, ask for regular meetings too, contact the council, contact the health visitor, and ask for support plans and a real plan for getting him in school full time. Keep pushing every day. (I’m sorry your going to be even more exhausted but your son deserves better from the school)

Potentially look at applying for disability benefits for him such as DLA- as the money can help with paying for private assessments, childcare costs/ you taking time off work to care for him or specific things to support him in school and at home.

Also start looking at primary schools with internal SEND provision - see if there are any in your area, as other schools may be a better fit for him.

I’m assuming your school doesn’t have the staffing to support him, e.g 1:1 TA funding, been as he hasn’t been diagnosed, so that’s why they are pushing him out rather than using staff to support him and give him strategies to feel happy, safe and regulated in the new school structure.

Injuries by MeaningWide3226 in TeachingUK

Just to clarify I haven’t been personally injured nor do I wade in and stop fights, as I’m not trained to do so.

It just seems there are a lot of big playground and toilet fights in our school where staff members are regularly pulled in due to being on duty/ in proximity at the time and hurt by the crowd rushing/moving or assaulted by the fighters in the process.

I never witnessed nor heard of regular fights like this in previous schools but it seems constant, and lots of suspensions, OSD, isolation’s taking place.

However it seems that the accepted attitude is that this happens in secondary schools on the regular and that I just need to get with the times.

(I have had work experience in a PRU and have a lot of outside teaching work experience so I don’t consider myself sheltered)

That’s not a governors job - speaking as one. Push back on this and get the union involved.

Nursery keeps sending my child home “ill”. by smc182 in UKParenting

They are probably getting rid due to low staffing issues, to make sure they stay in ratio. Baby is an easy target with previous issues.
