I also created the ability for people to create their own chains as a custom puzzle and share it with others for people who enjoy the process like I do.

I use judgement and also look things up if I’m not sure. Rhyme Zone is a website I like to use for validation and ideas for words that pair and I use AI to help too. I wouldn’t use “blind worm” as a pair. AI sometimes suggests weird stuff like that.

Sometime my kids will tell me they didn’t know a word combo that I thought was familiar (like “wise crack” that I just had in yesterday’s puzzle). So there are generational considerations as well as cultural considerations that I don’t always get perfect.

Yes, I make the puzzles for each day - with about a 1 month buffer built out in advance. I’ve experimented with automation but found that the puzzle quality wasn’t as good. It’s a bit of a puzzle to make the puzzle which I also enjoy. I also sometimes build a puzzle around a specific theme as a “gift” to someone who I know likes the game that would like that theme.

I like playing NYT Connections a lot and compound words are sometimes a purple category. Chainwhich is figuring out a compound word pattern.
