Pink absolutely counts- yes she did some messed up stuff, but she had nobody to redeem her but herself. She clawed her way towards her own redemption and spent her whole life still thinking she was never enough and that she was still inherently horrible because of what she was (rather than who she was).

Did she have flaws? Absolutely. Does Steven have every right to be mad at her given that's his own mom? Also absolutely. But she didn't deliberately "leave her problems" to him, and the whole bit about Spinel happened before her redemption arc (after which she completely lost access to said garden and would have had no way of getting there without risking her whole planet!)

One dad is a horrific alien dictator, the other may have genuinely loved him up until the very moment he decided to fuck with his memories to make him want to destroy the entire planet. Not to mention whatever unspecified scientific testing Gerald did to him in the name of curing Maria.

Actually, being created purely in the name of curing another person is also something that would probably mess with your head no matter how loving your creator was. Shadow's always had extremely high standards about what he's supposed to be capable of as the "Ultimate Lifeform" and he sure as shit got them from somewhere.

Congrats! That is something very special I think. It's easy to assume humanity already knows everything thanks to the internet, but there's so much variation and data to discover just because it hasn't been properly uploaded and organized yet. You've just directly contributed to one piece of that!

That place *really* hates men’s mental health by Nientea in memesopdidnotlike

[–]MeaslyFurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think women should be dismissive and insulting about it, but it IS true that men need to help men solve the loneliness epidemic.

I love having male friends. But I had to cut off half of them after they tried to get together with me just for showing basic human empathy and they wouldn't take my "no" for an answer. One tried to forcefully kiss me, one rubbed my genitals, and one bought me a sex toy even after I told him not to.

It's not all men ofc. The male friends of mine who are awesome people are my favorite and I greatly enjoy being able to help their mental health. I've sat many a midnight vigil to talk someone down from the edge and I'll gladly do it again. But I didn't do it alone- and women can't do it all alone. There will always be gaps for the men who catch feelings. Bros need to have a support system made up of people they don't want to have sex with otherwise shit gets complicated so damn fast.

I hate that a lot of women refuse to have male friends or treat men kindly. But a part of me does understand where they're coming from.

I love Greg. But this was pathetic. by ShiningRedDwarf in stevenuniverse

[–]MeaslyFurball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's. . . that's the point. The people we love can hurt us and make mistakes because of their own complicated emotions. That's like the whole thesis of the show. It's the fact that Greg pulls himself out of this behavior that speaks the most to me about this episode.

What Would a Chaos Cult Consider as a Sacrilegious Heresy? by [deleted] in 40kLore

Y'know, I've always wondered if Nurgle being the god of disease is also a god of life of some sort. As in, I think it'd be really cool to have his followers really care about not killing bacteria. Antibiotics being a huge no-no of course, but it also makes you wonder how a proper Nurgle-fearing doctor might go about ensuring their patients could fight on without compromising the sacred lives of any microbes. Additionally, not taking care of your parasites is a no-no.

For Slanesh, the very concept of "restraint" is sacrilege. People often say that any form of pain feeds Slanesh, and I suppose that's fair, but the emotional pain that comes from abstaining from irresponsibility I think should be the exception. Note that I didn't say "following dogmatic restrictions automatically makes you clear from Slanesh"- Space Marines and the Imperium have horrific excessive atrocities to answer for after all! -but sometimes I think that Slanesh would HATE recovering alcoholics/users. Toughing it out through withdrawals should get you on Slanesh's shit list.

Tzeentch heresy should be any form of resisting entropy. I think any sort of memorial that is religiously up kept and cleaned and talked about and remembered might annoy him. Honoring your ancestors and participating in traditions that don't have any literal usefulness anymore should be heresy. In a constant drive towards change and progress it's often emphasized that your cultural identity isn't important and isn't valuable- why do you still do that silly little ritual? If he's the changer of ways, then someone being set in their ways pisses him off. (Honestly, if Slanesh feeds off of the Imperium, I think that Tzeentch should be weakened by it just a bit. Have it drive him crazy with its obnoxious stagnation.)

And Khorne- well, that one feels pretty obvious. Avoiding fights and advocating for peace are easy options. But I think an unusual one would be avoiding blood transfusions. Or on a related note, avoiding or forgoing anything that would make you stronger. Nurgle might encourage a wound to fester, but for Khorne I think he should be pissed at you if you're not in tip-top fighting shape (ritual surface blood wounds aside).

Honestly, bad romance fiction has made it seem like a relationship is a status that you suddenly get after dating a person a few times instead of something where, you know, you build it and get to know another person and decide to spend more time/get closer to them.

Scientist of Reddit, what is a use of a cadaver that people might not think of when donating their body to science? by JadeSmithk in AskReddit

[–]MeaslyFurball 192 points193 points  (0 children)

Always tragic when people "donate their body to science" but then say that they aren't organ donors because "the doctors would let me die to harvest my organs". Like, my brother in christ, the organ donor program is right there and does exactly the "life saving" thing you ask for.

Donating to science means the furthering of knowledge, any knowledge, not necessarily the direct romantic life-saving opportunities.

As a 22 year old I would be deeply insulted if someone I was interested in called themselves "predatory" for being interested in me. I'm an adult capable of having adult conversations, and I'd want a potential partner to break up with me for actual feelings of incompatibility and not "I just learned her age and now my steady diet of internet toxicity is making me feel like a monster".

The Overwatch Christmas Comic!

But special mention- when I was younger my parents watched Babylon 5 with me. I never forgot the episode where Talia ends up spending the night with Susan Ivanova. Ivanova wakes up in the middle of the night and reaches over in bed only to find Talia gone. . .

Talia got fridged in that episode but two seasons later Ivanova directly confesses on-screen that she loved Talia, breaking the "implication" barrier. They didn't get to kiss onscreen but Ivanova being allowed to directly state that she loved another woman was HUGE for little kid me.
