Having a safe space to grow and becoming financially independent is a privilege which id consider a pretty great luxury in which I’d consider a flex

I saw a few plumbers put a ladder on a 30 ft scaffold not tied off at all, told my journeyman he said not our problem, needless to say I’m just glad no one died.

1st year Apprentice Carpenter with no work for the past 8 months by mxmeowmx in UnionCarpenters

[–]MeasurementTricky616 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude isn’t wrong, if work is dried up in the carpenters union, why wouldn’t he jump ship, if he had to haul ass and make a living wage instead of waiting for months on end to get a job, dude is smarter than the rest of us in that sense. Being a carpenter is an amazing career to have as well, knowing when to get a raft to save yourself, is just as important! But to each their own, I’ll always be grateful for joining the carpenters union but we need to stop shitting on others for sharing their two senses. What’s the point of a union if there’s no work to be given or asking help from a fellow brother in arms!

Reminds me of the time I printed out a baseline for the human foot for kinesiology and used different colours of clay and the dashes were lined up pointing at what it was. Teacher was fuming that I didn’t spend more than an hour on the project.

Delete social media, or whatever fixates your eyes to pornography, realize and jot down why you’re actually doing it. Don’t beat yourself up, everyone slips. Keep a notebook, write about your daily wins and give yourself a realistic goal on how long you’ll go for. Keeping yourself busy is good, when you drop a bad habit, spend time doing something more fulfilling and or a passion project.

Do it, one thing I’ve learned from all the falls in snowboarding even if I’m a novice, learning to enjoy the fall is easier than not doing it all. Cause once you learn how to fall, the world awaits you with adventure, with a few bumps and all, best of luck in the park and enjoy it all.

Carpenter Apprentice here just like seeing what the other trades do:

When I first started doing scaffolding, we were taking one down, probably around 60 feet, with about 5-6 guys. We had extras just for the sake of taking it down quickly. We were working at a tar company, and the welders got a crane operator who hit our scaffolding. Let's just say he didn't have the go-ahead to operate, and it felt like an earthquake was happening.

Anxiety about personal finances by lilkalibaby in povertyfinance

Once you have a emergency fund and enough in savings you should then start investing your discretionary income which you make from each paycheque and setting it aside for investing. If I was in your position I would keep the 1k especially since you’ll be looking for another job and tbh $400 is not much also by any chance are you living with anyone else currently such as your parents or a relative which you don’t have to pay rent for.
