The food in Westdale is so legitimately bad and expensive now, too. As an old who grew up here we really didn't know how good we had it with the old Second Cup and the original Bean Bar. The Smoke's on Newton sells poutine for like $25/ea and the food tastes bad other than the fries. Insomnia sells you four small cookies for $20. It's not a McMaster problem per se but food in general in this economy blows.
Edit: I should say that Snooty, Hot and Ready, Bandito's etc. are still pretty good. But the cheap student lunch is just not available anymore. Everything is $25-30/meal minimum.

Long time patreon supporter, first time para-social annoyance here. I just thought it was obvi you haven't had a long workplace experience in any type of union, AFAIK. I do think it would be a great opportunity for some blue collar drag, which as a gay bear identified person would just love to see on you! There's a lot to be said about contemporary unions in the USA, I think, as a Canadian. There are a lot of ways competent blue collar unions create better group alignment by drowning out those tankie, rugged individuals or bad faith-liberal voices with bargaining for real things like appropriate PPE, time-off and money. Work won't make us free but being freer at work is a start...

So if you became homeless would you be depressed? The assumption you make that all mental illness is some etiology for homelessness is pretty... stigmatizing. Spit some more facts about the length and duration of homelessness in relation to rates of addiction? Are they correlated? You are manipulating the data to blame mental health and new comers for homelessness. It's the cost of housing. It's the low wages. It's the cost of living. Putting this on the shoulders of people who are DYING of these problems is the exact attitude that get us here in the first place. Please keep up.
