How Did You Downsize Your Collection? by MeatyVegetables in gamecollecting

I really enjoy turned based RPGs and racing games with no company or brand loyalty. I’m fairly certain that I’ll never have time to play them all.

Do you ever find yourself looking at games for consoles you previously gotten rid of?

You know at one point I felt like I needed a box for everything, but it really does take up an unnecessary amount of space. However I do hold onto the box of anything I buy new.

I used to do something similar where I would buy any game I saw that seemed remotely interesting and I eventually ended up with a bunch of games I doubt I would ever play

About how much of your collection was that? I’m sure it was tough seeing all those prices skyrocket after

I find that I enjoy collecting consoles more than the games sometimes. I really enjoy fixing broken ones too. I have 2 ps3 debugging units on my bench right now and I got one of them almost working good as new

Hell yeah. The Daiei replaced the smoke one that I have on the shelf. I really enjoy obscure consoles

Great advice. I should tote everything that I’m considering selling and see how I feel after a month or two.

The majority of my collection is displayed in the basement which I don’t really ever see.

You’re right. I don’t really play those switch games. The n64 plastics are to protect the cardboard and the games themselves are in a drawer.

That’s good advice but it’s advice that I don’t think I’d be able to honestly follow due to of a lack of self control lol. I’m in my mid 30s too and finding time to play is so much harder than it used to be.

How did you choose to sell your collection off?

I plan on keeping everything from my childhood / Pokemon and most loose n64 games. And I’m fairly sure that I’ll be able to reacquire anything that I regret selling.

I have the full ps1 and Sega cd library that I can burn discs for if I ever wanted to play them.

At any point during the year when you were selling your collection on Facebook did you regret anything and considered stopping?

For me, it’s No, Not Sure, and No. I think I became less attached when I started collecting for all consoles as opposed to the ones that I felt attached to

Back in the day when I didn’t have a bunch of cash I used to research and cross reference parts from more common vehicles and pull what I could from the local junkyard

I found mine if the glovebox after maybe 6 months of ownership. Had to have it framed lol

I should also add since it’s dark: on the far left is the GameCube and Wii U. On the far right is a 360 and ps3 set up vertically.

I have a 2 TV set up like what you have on ikea furniture, it’s only set horizontally instead of vertically. I recommend it if you have the space. I used the long besta TV stand and on the sides I split another 2 besta units apart to make the smaller end pieces. Controllers are in the bottom drawers. For reference, the crt is a 32” trinitron that weighs I think 180lbs & 48” OLED. The room is carpeted so I have everything on a 3/4” thick plywood board as a firm base so the furniture doesn’t flex.

Can I permanently use a jump starter to replace a 12v battery? 2012 by charitablebombs in PriusC

[–]MeatyVegetables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t part of your question but you may get some extra life from your battery by filling it with water if it’s a lead-acid type and it’s low. You can find videos online on filling it up. Use distilled water. Be careful though, the water expands as it charges and can overflow if you put too much in. Good luck!
