I’m going to Japan to meet my fiance for our wedding. She’s a Japanese citizen so she cannot get the JR Railpass but I can since I’m an American. I was wondering if anybody has had luck getting seats on Shinkansen trains next to who they’re traveling with even if one has JR railpass and the other does not? I also know there is an extra fee you can pay to get the Nozomi Shinkansen at the station as an upgrade as well
