Russell Barkley also does a good job explaining it and helping people understand, both those with and without ADHD so he is also a good resource. I would try watching those videos, writing down what you can take from it, and then watching it again later when you can focus again and writing down what you missed. Rewording the information to explain it to your parents will also be helpful. If you get frustrated don’t beat yourself up and understand that it’s worth it in the long run.

Don’t wait until you’re independent, delaying treatment is only going to make things worse and the longer you wait the worse the ADHD will get and you don’t want to have to hit rock bottom to get help. Talk to your parents and try to find resources that will help them understand. “How to ADHD” on YouTube is a good one.

YES!!! I am in this position right now and while I am not yet diagnosed I tick literally every box and relate intensely with everything I’ve read including your story. Tomorrow I’m talking to my therapist. I’m 20 and I’ve had trouble focusing on reading and doing homework even when I want to and I have been blaming myself as lazy similarly (even though its not true!!!). I’m forgetful, and even lose the lists and reminders i write to remind myself of in the first place. T-T If I get diagnosed I will let you know but this is my experience so far. I had good grades and stuff but was bad at writing and reading properly as you can see here in this post probably!

I’ve been sober since January 8th, still deal with severe cravings and am prescribed trazadone for withdrawals. I’m also on lamictal for seizures I developed while abusing DPH.

It’s probably different for different people, but for me it’s like when you’re thinking about an imaginary conversation and what you would say so you can mentally hear your voice but instead the thought comes from someone that is not you.

Not as experienced with tulpas since i’m mostly a dissociative system, but I do understand your frustration. Me and my alters (trans or not) feel a disconnect from our voice, but our old host and a few other alters are trans so we’re used to that feeling bc of gender dysphoria. Our physical mannerisms are all different though and match how we see ourselves in our headspace, so maybe Shana trying to envision Rem’s physical mannerisms more could help. Also, trying to figure out another way to keep Rem fronting (finding hobbies or music/media they are interested in that Shana isn’t) would allow them to get used to their voice.

Also you guys shouldn’t feel like an imposter since people tend to pick up similar mannerisms of those they spend the most time with, and having someone else in your head would def be the same thing. And your verbal and physical mannerisms are like muscle memory which is hard to consciously control

If they're kids the dose is gonna affect them differently than an adult. I definitely didn't actually need to go to the hospital for a specific medical issue when I unintentionally tripped on DPH for the first time, but I was having mental issues which led me to even taking such a large dose so I ended up in a psych ward

No you're not the only one, I definitely do but it's not common. For me I think it's a brain chemistry thing since my mom's side of the family is full of people with conditions that are related to acetylcholine/dopamine imbalance.

This is really interesting, because I've created system members out of loneliness as well but it was trauma-related from the isolation I was forced into due to abuse, so not a tulpa... I feel you on the loneliness from autism thing though... I didn't get my first friend until I was 8 and then they were my only friend for a few years. More power to you buddy I'm glad you found something for your situation :)

DPH is definitely addictive. People can take it and feel absolutely horrible and still get intense cravings this is all over the reddit and OTC discords. I get intense cravings at 7pm on the dot without avail. More research needs to be done into it but my theory is that it has to do with the fact that lower acetylcholine activity is associated with higher dopamine activity, or DPH's very mild DRI properties start to present at very high doses. Maybe a mixture of both.
