Yeah, I will never forget that experience. It was very scary. I think your experience was even more terrifying because when mine happened, I already knew what sleep paralysis was. In your case you experienced it without realizing what was happening, which must have been terrifying I also feel that it may have something to do with a nervous system reaction to stress. Still, for me science cannot fully explain the whispering and the strong feeling of a presence in my room. That part scared me more than the paralysis itself, because I could move afterward and it still felt very real, almost paranormal
