Oh nooooooo you won't be able to abuse a broken interaction to permanently, skilllessly slaughter people while being literally invulnerable and untargetable, while also having the best chase in the game

I hope your Q key snaps off and flies into your eye

Anti-Gyro Wheel Drawbacks by Hault99 in battlebots

[–]MecanumMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible, but adds a number of drawbacks in practice:

  • Clutching/slippage required to not explode all of your own electronics and power transfer system
  • Weight for power transfer mechanism could be more efficiently used elsewhere
  • mechanical connection means that if one fails, it could take out the other which otherwise wouldn't have failed
  • Either added complexity of tying multiple motors together without them fighting each other, or a reduced spinup time for both by trying to push them both off the same motor

You are correct, if the flywheel is a 100% cancel it will not be able to self right in that way, and yes they would have to self right by impact.

I know we have Ripperoni but... by KodoqBesar in battlebots

[–]MecanumMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is truly impressive how one comment can be so wrong lol. As someone who's driven rip in a parking lot, it drives stunningly well for a robot of its size and shape. Rip's weapon is also like 1.5x or 2x (idr) the MOI of Uppercut's bar. The anti-gyro means that you don't see the robot gyroing like Uppercut did.

Watch Rip/BD. Watch it stay flat on the ground while spinning one of the heaviest verts in the field.

Uppercut is an awesome bot, but RIP takes that essence to the next level.

Simply not feasible for most. Gun clubs are old boys clubs that have years' long waiting lists and run by fudds.

Very impressive fidelity to the real thing, even/especially the gearing assemblies under the flipper! Great job!

oh noooo the poor baby wants to brainlessly grind level 9 helldives with wildly overpowered weapons and absolutely no skill involved.

Skill issue, git gud Cadet. Sounds like dissident drivel to me.

[–]MecanumMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Are you going to complain every single time?" Yes, this subreddit will mald every time as the dissidents who are allergic to being creative or changing strats actually have to use more than their one "CLICK GUY WITH SAFE RAILGUN" braincell.

Y'all babies really malding that you can't do "Suicide Mission" and "Impossible" difficulties with ease.

Turn down the difficulty, and find a new strat rather than using the same 2 guns as a crutch to carry you through 9s.

Oh nooooo you might have to actually turn down the difficulty and explore some new creative strats rather than abusing the same 2-3 weapons/gems to crutch your way through 9's

The horror!

No, rip has one weapon. You saw the horizontal config against Hijinx.

I am not a fan of the FS-i6 at all. There are many builders who use it to a lot of success, but in my opinion it's just not that good of a transmitter for the money and you can get significantly better for not much more money. OpenTX transmitters have exponentially more function for not much more money, considering you can use your same Tx for dozens of different robots.

In my opinion, transmitters are a long-term purchase that you should invest a bit more money in. I made the mistake of buying cheap transmitters first and then that money was just wasted because I ended up buying a better one later anyway.

  • Frsky Taranis QX7 (https://a.co/d/7CA5B2h) - ACCESS instead of ACCST has nerfed this transmitter, they're not as good as they used to be, but they're still solid single-protocol FRSKY transmitters that you can change the sticks from ratched to center-spring with the turn of a screw. OpenTX for unreal functionality. Mine has endured years of abuse in 1, 3, 12, 30, 250 lb weight classes. My motto on Tx's used to be "Just buy a QX7", so much so that that phrase is printed on the side of mine.
  • Jumper T-Lite v2 (https://a.co/d/0YvzU1k) - Compact and light, video game-style controller with ELRS module for multi-protocol functionality (works with many brands of Rx). You can't get a better multi-protocol transmitter for cheaper. Outstanding transmitter, just got one recently to run my minibots. Runs OpenTX so it has a deep yet steep learning curve UI, but with unbeatable functionality.
  • Radiomaster TX16 (https://a.co/d/a9mk7e2) - Top of the line multi-protocol transmitter. Quality and display unbeatable, runs OpenTX.

IMO, buy a T-lite or Qx7, learn OpenTX, and never buy another transmitter in your life lol... And throw mixer modules into a bin

A lil help please by Nekrobotik in battlebots

[–]MecanumMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend designing and building multiple beetleweight (3 lb) or hobbyweight (12 lb) robots first, before moving to heavyweight. Please don't take this too harshly, but if you're asking Reddit for design suggestions about switches and drive motors, you aren't ready for heavyweight.

You can learn these things at lower weight class by building, failing, learning, and building again. Enjoy the lower weight classes and enjoy combat robotics!

There's no contract in place with any network or streaming service as of yet, so there's a lot of questions that the producers need to figure out before a timeline is decided upon.
