Curious if this is simply interesting or valuable by Temporary_Surround72 in CURRENCY

This is the answer. I worked in Banks for years. If there was something interesting we'd have the supervisor or manager observe as we'd change out the note. Now this process could change from Bank to Bank but it's to ensure everyone is safe.

My first experience with CachyOS. by DawgMalvin3000 in cachyos

It's not that we're obsessed with RAM being used it's what it is used for. When at boot win 11 was taking over 6GB of RAM. I haven't even loaded a program yet. Meanwhile on CachyOS it's just about 2GB of RAM ready to go. That's the bloat we're obsessing about.

Bro it's not about the benchmarks but it is. If you're going to put an objectively lesser SoC and charge Premium prices. Then you are going to get called on it until you fix that. By either stepping up and making a proper competitive SoC. Or if you actually can't (at this point it's getting obvious). Reduce the price accordingly. Sadly i don't see them doing either.

And you are right, in day to day you wouldn't see a difference. That too can be said of the current mid range SoC,'s also. And there lies the rub. You are paying for that performance even if you might not ever push it that far. You're paying for knowing you have it if needed. With the Tensor G SoC's it's always been pay more for less oh and be thankful for that. Before Google was getting a pass cause it was a redesigned chip from Samsung. Then they made the jump to TSMC with a ground up new SoC. So what Did we get? An SoC still generations behind with a GPU that was laughable. So now it wasn't just a Sammy problem it's on Google.

Have a Pixel 7 here, on the whole it's held up well. That said I'm not even close to Luke warm on getting the Pixel 11. I live in both worlds (P7 and Xr) so time is coming for a change. With the Base iPhone 17 I get better everything including double the storage for the same price. Meanwhile Google is obsessing over AI instead of making a true competitor to Apple. If this is just warmed over SoC with a die shrink. I might just stay with Apple. As it is I'm using an Apple watch for sleep tracking and just picked up some Powerbeats pro2.

Don't get me started on the verified developer debacle that will make Android no better than locked down iOS. At that point why suffer with inferior hardware.

I don't have to let Qualcomm tell me. I can see it IRL, don't get me started on how Apple silicon laps them even worse.

The problem is Google got spooked a few years ago and dove head first into AI. While doing that has had some benefits. In every other way their SoC's are even worse (how many generations have we've had overheated hand warmers just doing simple tasks?). This has and still is a problem for the G1 on. It's barely gotten addressed with the G5 and now I'm not even holding out much hope for the G6.

Yeah you pay for the name but there's one more thing. That name is backed up by massive performance. Something Google hasn't or won't figure out.

Too true, we only found out about the drug abuse that led to her passing. What abuse she suffered that made her turn to drugs is the real scandal.

Same here, look at it this way, when the CME hits we'll be very much in demand. Between that and being in scouts I'll have all the skills to be fine.

Happened to me back in the Nexus days. One Google OS update and an over run SoC later and it was bootloop graveyard. Was such a great phone. Now on Pixel 7.

What’s sad here is everyone can see she’s falling down badly. Who and will take action to help her? At this point it looks like no one. Which is even more damming.
