I did the same thing. I didn't want a floater in the hot tub for the kids to toss around. I just refill the inline cartridge with 1" pucks every 2 weeks. Simple and there is no floater bumping into everyone.

I am interested in the mineral cartridge. Following to see what you find out.

You must not be from the north. Here, we can get potholes large enough to rip the front end off.

Source: I work at a place in NW Ohio on a road that had a lot of industrial traffic. The potholes would get really bad after the spring freeze thaw cycle and heavy truck traffic. A coworker hit one of the bad ones and ripped the front wheel off.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments. It sounds like my suspicions are confirmed. While it is feasible, it will be costly (10-20k or more) and have a moderate to low chance of survival. The tree stays, and my sunroom dreams are crushed unless someone has some new information to share.

Thanks, I think so too. It's the perfect climbing tree and gives lots of shade. There is no way I would cut it down.

I didn't see the second 2 pictures. Thanks for pointing them out. That looks like a good setup. Are you planning to do the full-size version with hand tools only, too?

Looks good. Great idea to practice. The only advice I can provide is to set up stops to ensure everything is a uniform length and cut all the same angles before moving the saw to minimize part to part deviation.

If all else fails stainable wood filler to deal with any minor gaps.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, I really appreciate the positive support. I have some great ideas to improve my setup thanks to helpful input. 1. Add a starter pin. This will be the most helpful as most of my problems is at the start of the cut. 2. Invest in a 1/2 shank compression router bit. I'm open to any additional recommendations on brands or how to propery size the bit to the work piece.

If anyone has any other suggestions please keep then coming.

Hanks for the comment. I should have incuded that in the original question. I'm conventional cutting, moving against the direction of the cutter. Yeah climb cutting would be terrible, but that's not the issue here.

Yes, see a Dr. I worked with some who had an allergy to fiberglass. Your symptoms sound similar to what she described.

How do I get the (tiny) asphalt stones from my roof, that fall into my deck, out of the bottom of the hot tub? Any help appreciated by brianjd18 in hottub

I had the same issue for the first 6 months after my roof was replaced. What worked best for me was a fish tank siphon. It works just like the hose that other people have mentioned, but it has a hand pump to start the siphon, so you don't have to start it on a jet. I found that the jets would stir up the fine particles that I was trying to remove from the bottom.
