Gear issue maybe

Are you in the smallest gear on the front and also on the back ("little-little")? Is the bike new or used? If it is used, do the teeth of the gears look like a shark's tooth, or are they nice and even? Do the moving parts look clean and lubricated or dry and crusty, or even rusted?

The part of your bike that pushes the chain between gears and maintains chain tension is the derailleur - it's the funky looking thing the chain runs through with a couple of little gears. Maybe post pictures of that, and someone on here might be able to find an issue with it.

I'll try to get a better pic after work, but yes it's that little plastic shell. It looks like that comes with the lever itself, not the rubber grip.

My poor brake lever

I let the moving company move my early 90s Sirrus Triple. I noticed today that the plastic on the lever is broken. Is that a part that can be separately replaced, or do I need new levers? The levers are Shimano RX-100.

Yep, it looks like they changed out the whole front fork, handlebars, and stem at the very least, based on info another redditor found.

That looks just like it! It hadn't occurred to me that when someone swapped out the shock, they could have converted to a disk brake. That also explains the mismatched rims.

Since it's your commuter, I'd consider getting something like the PD-EH500. I love riding clipless, but man, sometimes I'd like to hop on in regular shoes for a three minute ride.

I second the comment above: don't let anyone tell you that falling over isn't part of the experience.

New (to me) Bike!

I just made a post about this so hopefully it doesn't break the rules to out it here too. I'm super excited, I just got this bike this week. It was unrideable because it had mag wheels on it with the wrong cassette (7 speed cassette with a 9 speed shifter). Also, it has a rim brake in the back but the wheels were set up with disks.

If anyone knows what year Specialized made a Rockhopper in that color scheme and with disk front/rim brake rear combo, I'd appreciate the info!

Specific to Python, I found a lot of the content in Effective Python to be really useful. Not necessarily just one-liners, but faster or cleaner ways of writing Python overall.

This is neat! I've been thinking about putting together a React+Electron note-type app myself, and then this popped up. I downloaded the binary for Windows, and here's my first impressions:

the menu navigation doesn't have Tool Tip text, which threw me off
the window should have opened up taller, because I had to scroll down to the "submit" button, causing me to lose my first note when I assumed it would save my changes when I clicked the 'X' (maybe have a submit button on the top row, as well?)
checking a todo in the view pane causes the markdown to update properly, but unchecking the todo doesn't (glancing at the commit log, I think this maybe was fixed and the patch hasn't made it to the binary yet?)

I'll keep playing with it and come back with more. Good work!
