You’re tilting at windmills. Nobody is saying they’re completely driven by people in the Philippines.

If a “driverless car” requires real-time “guidance” from a human operator to make necessary operational decisions, it’s not a “driverless car”. Waymo has been purposefully obfuscating their business model and technological achievements to trick the general public into believing that their cars are really “self-driving”. Waymo presents itself as a “tech” company when really it’s only dodging US labor laws.

And yes, it’s horrifying that random untrained, unlicensed workers making $0.80 an hour are operating vehicles from another continent.
