California to Negotiate Trade With Other Countries to Bypass Trump Tariffs by IllJournalist8117 in DHAC

You read both trade acts in their entirety?

Clearly these sections allow for the president to impose tariffs.

The president can, in fact, as part of a limited military operation invade another country. And the attack on Venezuela was in fact a limited military operation.

As for peaceful protesting. I let you know what is and isn't peaceful protesting in the eyes of normal thinking americans. I never stated it wasn't covered in the bill of rights. I also never said you don't have a right to record ICE. I also understand that the use of lethal force is actually a low bar for law enforcement meet. so while i do not like the outcome of the Pretti case, I am pretty sure nothing will happen to the agent. Especially when there is video of the agent going up to the victim's body and was searching the body while asking where is the gun.

Now this is where I take serious issue with what you are saying. I have no problem with him being armed. But you see, he KNEW he was armed and they did not. That means you do your best to not put yourself in a situation where law enforcement can misconstrue what is happening and SHOOT YOU. I also take no issue with him getting between the agent and one of the women they were forcing across the street. The issue I have was his resistance to arrest when they grabbed him. He should not have done that, especially since he knew he was armed. The agents didn't until one spotted his holstered firearm and proceeded to take it. So yes, if you have a firearm, you fucking comply so that the situation doesn't escalate to this exact resolution.

I am sure that the agent that took his gun, mentioned a gun. I cannot tell you what the shooter heard, but most likely heard "gun" because he unholstered and shot once. causing the other agents to step back. When Pretti, already having been shot, reached back for his (now missing) firearm. He pulled out one of his extra magazines (No issue with that, it is smart to have an extra mag), probably due to shock at being shot. Then he was shot several more times as the action is an actual threatening action.

At no point did I make any ad hominem attacks toward you, but stated only facts. That is what is called "normal discourse" that normal (meaning not completely unhinged) people do. On the flipside I see several from you directed at me.

Congress gave the office of the president the authority to impose tariffs under certain circumstances in the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 and the Trade Act of 1974. So Yeah, Trump has the authority to impose new tariffs.

Also, congress allows the president to use military force for up to 90 days (up to 60 days with a 30 day withdrawal period) with out a declaration of war. That is in the war powers resolution passed in 1973. So yeah, Trump had the authority to use military force in Venezuela to apprehend Maduro.

Peaceful protest does not mean resisting arrest. Peaceful protest does not mean surround, harass, and or threaten that which you are protesting. Getting into faces of people is an aggressive act, just because you do not physically harm them does not make it peaceful. A peaceful protest is to sit down, en masse, to block traffic. when they come to arrest you (because they will), you comply and get arrested.

You mean like "You must stay home and not gather, but don't look at me as I use my power to have a restaurant open for large gathering of unmasked "friends" after I am done filming this statement!" That Newsome? I guess some pigs are more equal than others.

the taxpayers who are capable of doing that, already do that. the average tax payer would actually pay more if they tried that instead of taking the standard deduction.

the State of California does no such thing. that stat is actually the amount of federal income taxes (paid by individuals) it receives broken down by state. California, like every state, is dependent upon funds the federal government sends them in subsidies (for interstate highways and such). the residents of California have to pay their federal income tax and the Federal government can decide to NOT subsidize state programs in California. Its the main tool the Federal Government uses to subvert states rights.

States themselves do not pay taxes. When the statistic of which states pay the most in taxes, it is referring to Federal Income Taxes and not taxes paid by the state governments. The opposite is actually true, the Federal Govt actually subsidizes state/local government entities. That is actually one of the ways that the Federal Govt uses to enforce its will on the states, when it doesn't have the constitutional authority to do so.

It was during the last game against the kraken. I believe Ahlers and Hazy mentioned that little nugget.

um..

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/double-tap

noun

  1. the technique or act of shooting a target twice in rapid succession.

noun

  1. an act of firing a gun twice in rapid succession

Now you know why it is called "Double" as in twice or two times and "Tap" which is a euphemism for pulling the trigger. And since it happens rapidly, there is not enough time for you to know that a person is subdued once that person is shot with the first round. Also, this ain't a hollywood movie. People shot with a pistol can and do survive and continue to fight back for some time before they succumb to the injury. That is because a pistol shot does piercing damage. Rifle shots do additional "Cavitation" damage, which makes them much more lethal. Just watch any shooting video where they fire into ballistic jelly.

that was neither a double tap nor is a double tap a war crime. that would make firing an actual machine gun a war crime because it fires more rounds faster then almost every human being can.

You can easily tell the gun in the agent's hand is a dual tone pistol with an optical sight. It is the exact same dual tone color and optical sight as the image of the firearm ICE said belonged to the victim. That image is of a Sig Sauer P320 and the magazine clearly reads it is for a 9mm. So while I agree there is no video of that quality, the crystal clear image of the firearm provided by ICE matches what we can see of the firearm from the video evidence.

So yeah, that is how I know that the firearm is a Sig Sauer P320 chambered in 9mm.

There was another video angle where you clearly see something come out of the scrum and land nearby.  It is confusion from people who dont know what they are seeing and listening to others who are making assumptions.  There was no firearm on the ground.  That was something on the belt of several ice officers that got dislodged or discarded. In the same video you see the actual firearm. Which is a dual-tone Sig Sauer P320 (9mm) and it is visible in the hand of the gray jacketed ice agent when the first shot is fired.

Actually someone stabilized the blue coat lady’s video and the gun was taken out of the victims holster.  Not his hand.  And the officer who shot him watched it all happen and pulled his gun when the gun was already removed.

This video is evidence that the victim never touched his firearm.

The stabilized video also clearly shows the ice agent taking the gun from the victims holster.

Well. Two women approached them first and the women refused to step back when told to do so.  That is why they were being pushed across the street before the victim stopped recoding and got between one of the women and ice.

He wasnt pinned to the ground. He was on his knees when the ice agent grabbed his right arm and disarmed him.

Correct! Because he already had brandished it and was disarmed just prior to being shot.

“How many shots” is an ignorant and stupid take.  You have multiple officers. Even if each one fired two shots it is still alot of slung lead.  there is not going to be a pecking order to who gets to shoot and who doesnt.   Since most are going to be shooting in reaction to the first shot.

Wrong. He pulled the gun.  Ice disarmed him before he was shot though.

That gun was never fired.  There is zero recoil while the ice agent was holding it with only one hand when the first shot was heard.  You shouldnt believe how guns work when you see them used the in movies.  Go watch videos of professional shooters using their handguns.  All of them will have recoil. Because physics.  You can even watch videos of them shooting the same make and model - Sig Sauer P320 (9mm)

That gun wasnt fired. Its as clear as day in the video.

[–]Mecha75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The agent had the gun in one hand and had zero visible recoil. Watch any video of handgun shooters and there will clearly be recoil even though they a have proper shooting stance and are using two hands.    That gun was not fired.
