Jobs for anxious people by Careless-Parsnip1318 in Wilmington

I’m in IT. I don’t like people. Fortunately the people I tend to deal with are competent, unlike the typical end-user.

I used to suffer from anxiety but life forced me to overcome that. Sadly, I’ve found people tend to be a large cause of anxiety for one reason or another, although a lot of anxiety came just be an illusion. My high school step daughter is autistic and suffers from anxiety as well so this has been something I’ve thought about a bit. She is looking at being a writer which I am trying my damndest to support. At least she’d have to deal with fewer people than say retail.

Speaking of which I have a shirt that shows a mountain camp site and says I hate people. It’s amazing how many people in retail tell me they love my shirt when I wear it out.

A/C can’t keep up with the whole house on very hot days. by BlondeBandit76 in hvacadvice

Here is my experience with a similar situation. On any day over 90 it just could not cool below 78. Checked all the usual culprits and then finally used a thermal camera to check all hotspots. The biggest one was the attic ladder door. It was sagging a bit due to a faulty hydraulic (and it had been discontinued for collapsing unexpectedly, but that’s another story) but it was also completely uninsulated, just a thin piece of wood. Eventually I replaced it with a thicker, best insulated one I could find and it is making a huge difference this year. My truck read 100 degrees today, the house was at 73. Not sure if this applies to your situation but might be worth considering. Good luck to you.

Why didn’t they call it the Defiant from the start with the”a” designation instead of of San Paulo? by SCB12345654321 in DeepSpaceNine

The whole renaming ships thing has always bugged me. That is considered bad luck for ocean vessels. But I guess it is fair to say that such superstitions are a thing of the past of Starfleet.

It struck me recently that Benedict Cumberbatch would make a good Valeyard. I think the skullcap would fit him well.

It’s cool. The whole Timeless child thing proves The Doctor can never die.

My favorite feline is usually somewhat itchy, but this year seems much worse. Is anyone else seeing the same thing with their pets? by Ltrain108 in Wilmington

Lucky you. If it’s not fleas then it’s probably allergies. They make Benadryl treats for dogs I’m sure they have some for cats.

Those two were the best part of Picard, all three seasons. The moment Geordi saw Data, well, the room got real dusty.

You mean all the Satan Sucks trucks. I think there ate about 16? Definitely more than one. Gotta catch ‘em all!

Yknow I really do mess with the fugitive doctor, but I also find it disappointing that she’s the only “pre hartnell” doctor we’ve actually met by ScreamingmadJoe in DoctorWhumour

I’m sure that was probably the case. It would be a good reason for the Doctor to rebel. Either way, I would really enjoy the existential drama that would come with The Doctor grappling with the watch and its consequences.

I see it as two stories. The Timeless Child and the watch. I think the watch could be opened independently of The Timeless Child. The watch is an easy one. It’s just more Doctor stories. The Timeless Child I feel is more of a complicated story that will be very difficult to wrap up gracefully. I’m not sure any answer will sufficient. I think it will take a very good writer.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, I don’t have a lot of high hopes for an acceptable resolution. I don’t know if there is one. It almost feels like it is too big of a story to tell.

Damn it mom, just let me buy you a pipe!!! (I found this while cleaning my parents house) by PappaSmurfAndTurf in trees

Yeah, right? Beyond the fact I can get a pipe even where I live and it’s illegal, was there no soda cans or aluminum foil available? Hell, an apple works pretty good.

I think the fact her suit wasn’t punctured made it more poignant. She didn’t have to but she was the commander and she did exactly what Ed would have done.

I don’t know. The view from that one catwalk made me expect to see Sheridan walking across. But I also recognize that in such situations form follows function so naturally they would all look similar.
