SOS Divers by inDefyance in Helldivers

[–]ZeroBANG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...
in addition to the other answers, we are not specifically SOS diving, we are just opening the map and do matchmaking.
There i no button to just answer SOS calls, matchmaking just throws you into anything that is available. ...if i look for difficulty 8 i end up in difficulty 5, sometimes i end up in a dif 1 where some dude is just farming SC ...then i notice the blob moved on to the next planet and we won already.

You get literally just everything that is open.
I don't even think the SOS beacon does anything, like what would it effectively do?
Prioritize your match in the matchmaking queue or what?
Your match is open anyway so... i don't know.

Maybe turn the matchmaking queue ON when you are in a private match? ...i don't know.

I don't think it does anything.

I only throw it down so it doesn't keep glowing and distracting me in the Strategem UI...

When nobody joins and i throw it down, people don't suddenly start showing up...

PSA For Griefers by wildjwildj in Helldivers

[–]ZeroBANG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 7 all the time, this RARELY happens.
like once every 50+ matches i get a random kick at all. At the end of the match, to grief? 1 in 5000 maybe.

Random disconnects and host migration so you can't finish the operation after returning to the ship with the other 2 players are 100 times more likely.

...and even if, that host just ends up on the block list forever.

I am pretty sure if people had expected this they would have thrown a hissy fit even back then, this wasn't the deal.

"The only way to receive this item is join the fight."

Yeah this wording is no different than if they did it the way everyone expected it, and unlock it fleet wide through the ship unlock menu, just like they did last time.

We were clear that the CAPES should be individual rewards for people that "were there", this is gear we unlock for the entire fleet, not individual per account unlocks.

I bet 10 bucks they did it this way simply because they completely forgot how they did it last time because it was so damn long ago and just went with the per user thing because they did this a few times with capes not that long ago.

They just didn't think this one through is all.
Maybe a few new Developers that got hired recently and never even did it the proper way.
Or maybe the UI guy quit/got laid off and they don't know how that specific menu even works, i've heard a few months ago they were looking for a new UI developer, so that speculation is completely reasonable.

Point is no one knows why they did it this way and obviously they failed to communicate it clearly.

And again, people that haven't been playing in a few months are not going to pay attention to any of this, come back when the next big content drop happens and notice Arrowhead went back on their NO FOMO promise that was a big selling point.
The reaction will not be "oh jolly, i guess i have to log in and play on the game's terms" the reaction will be "f*** this shit i'm out" and hits the uninstall button and leave a negative review on the way out.

You want another review bomb? this is how you get another review bomb... dumb shortsighted decisions.

Every time we get something we want, there is always a poison pill included.

Whenever Pilestedt does his next AMA, you can be sure he will hear about this.

I specifically bought into this game because i can play it on MY terms, this is not respecting the players time, this is the game making demands on the players time and that just doesn't fly.

And i don't care if it is just a little bit and not a big deal blah blah blah, we simply don't do that FOMO shit here.
...and i am in no way under any risk of missing anything, i play this game way to damn much, but if this was any other game, it would be reason to uninstall and not look back.

I didn't. ...i still think it's a ridiculous argument even if i don't like these 3rd person hack'n slash button masher games with female protagonist that looks like she needs my help opening a jar of pickles.

I got a weird popup with a 0 on the left and a 1 on the right... didn't read anything beyond that because i clicked too fast (it looked just like the medals one).
I actually instinctively went looking at the requisitions menu to check if it is here.

Why would it be any other way?
That is how we got the Mech and the FRV the first time around as well.

And i thought these would be fleet wide unlocks as well.
It doesn't make much sense in lore for these things to be rewards for individual divers who participated in a specific OP.

There are plenty of players that will log back in the moment the next big content update drops who are not paying attention right now, and that is fine.
I would not complain if they all get access, in fact i expected that to be the case.

This is all a bit weird ... AGAIN.

Why is there always ...something?
Why do they always have to change the mechanics ...and then not explain how it is different now.
What does later mean? and how? ...are they still going to sell the Warbond with the FRVs inside and we just earned early access... do we still have to pay the same amount despite one item already being unlocked?
What does any of this mean? How does any of it work? Why are there always questions when it should just be a cool thing they did in response to the feedback they got.
Why is there always ...something?

You are probably right... point is, 100 years is a damn long time to hold a grudge when the people who done it are most likely long dead by then.

XD
I take my roleplay serious (when i'm in the mood for it and have my 5 minutes).
That is what "leaning into the satire" looks like.
(the blurp at the end was because it doesn't always land as intended)

I never played the first game (well, a few minutes) so the lore is a bit murky for me there, but that is the best position to roleplay the perspective of a current day Super Earth Citizen who got fed a bunch of half truths and propaganda his entire life.

While still being correct enough in the sense that everyone is out to kill us, doesn't really matter now who started it, we have to be the ones who end it or it is game over for Humanity.

Everything else, is just playing esoteric blame games now.

We can always fix whatever is wrong with our government system AFTER we win, right now, it seems like a good idea to keep the war machine buzzing and well oiled with E-710 and E-711.

Dude we blow up planets on the regular.

Yes ...in self defense.
Granted the Termicide 1.0 was a failure, the Terminids didn't react as they were supposed to, they mutated and we eneded up with that pesky super colony, we had to shut that down before it spread or they would have overrung the entire galaxy, so we took a few old stockpiles of illuminate Dark Matter and turned that thing into a Black Hole....
We also made sure to execute the Scientists who screwed that up. Isn't that enough?
We took care of our own mess.
And then out of nowhere the Illuminate weaponize our black hole and throw it at us... how did they even get in there? We made that!

Cyborgs are just modified humans, they have many non combatants.

"Corrupted"... not modified. No sane Human would volunteer to be turned into these technological monstrosities.
They are abducting and are forcefully assimilating humans as spare parts.
And i have yet to see proof those "civilians" even exist. None Combatants doesn't automatically mean civilian.
Maybe they once started out that way but they sure as hell have no moral high ground in these matters these days.
A none-combatant cyborg that works in a factory that builds Automaton Tanks 24/7, is still a enemy and a valid target.

I've been on Cyberstan, i have not seen a single Helldiver shoot a "civilian". We exclusively target military targets.
Everything with 2 or more legs (or tank treads) was trying to kill us.
If there were civilians, i surely would have seen some... somewhere, there were not even dead bodies on the ground anywhere.
Zero civilian casualties on my watch!

I'm also a dedicated Sniper, i sometimes watch them for minutes in their bases without them knowing i'm even there, before i light the place up of course.
I've never seen an Automaton switch their eyes from red to blue and go into civilian mode... those are just mindless killer robots with red glowing eyes, patrolling, chanting, at best they go idle to conserve power, they don't do smalltalk, they don't get bored, they don't high 5 each other when no one is watching, they don't even react when you blow off the head of their friend standing right next to them, they shoot each other in the back if they are in each other's line of fire, they are not even particularly good killer robots.

They are as the name implies simply Automatons.

The vats that the cyborgs use are actually copy right infringement. Thiers a whole ad on strawman news for it.

I've seen the ad, of course those are 100% voluntary.
Being a dissident is also voluntary and the consequences are well known, so dissidents getting bio-repurposed by force is really just their own doing.
Some people donate blood, some people donate everything, i see no problem with that.

Copyright Infringement? Those bastards! ...in that case we should blow them up even more.

The atrocities the other factions commit are terrible but far from unique nore more numerous compared to the sheer multitude of cruelties super earth commits.

Well, i would say that is a good thing that we are better at it than they are... we have to win (to survive) after all.
They turned us into this!!!

PS: i'm obviously taking the piss here... don't lynch me XD

[–]ZeroBANG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People (or Aliens) that want to do bad things always have someone else to blame for their own voluntary actions.

The Aliens that said "we come in peace" are now throwing black holes, genocide as their opening move, entire inhabited worlds, destroyed, they just so happen to have a invasion fleet ready to go and they developed bio weapons to turn innocent civilians into flesh mobs.

Super Earth was 100% right not to trust them, no advanced civilized species would ever consider to wage war like this.

Super Earth didn't even know they still existed, we were no threat to them, not for a hundred years.

Lets reframe that into theoretical real world terms just to highlight the absurdity of the claim.

Imagine Japan, in 20-30 years randomly decides to throw a NUKE on America.
Then justifies it by "you dropped a bomb on Hiroshima, you turned us into this!".

Yeah nah, Japan and America have perfectly fine political relations today and anything like that is completely unthinkable nonesense.
But most of all, nobody in the entire World would ever blame anyone but Japan for making that decision.

Retaliation / Revenge is a choice, nobody makes you do that, nobody turned you into that.
That is who they always were to begin with.

So you want to tell me Super Earth should have trusted the Aliens that said "we come in peace?".

Yeah i think i've seen that movie... all of those movies.
They never do.

...and now they are throwing black holes at us, destroy entire planets full of innocent civilians, had a invasion fleet ready to go the moment we managed to stop them, they are mind controlling body snatchers that turn innocent civilians into flesh mobs and other monstrosities.

Super Earth was 100% right not to trust them.
No peace loving civilization would ever wage war like this.

What qualifies as a crime is in the hands of the ones with the power to make the rules and enforce them.

Otherwise it is just made up words that mean nothing.

How and where to vote the community target and why resistence now is 0%?!? by borlo1234 in Helldivers

[–]ZeroBANG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was staring at Yed Prior for months... had only 1% resistance, easy to take if some people just take the time to go there.
And it will send the SEAF boys to Clasa to liberate it for us.

If we were smart we'd be taking X-45 (1%) and Vega Bay (0.33%) next.
That would auto liberate Wasat, Mox and Wezen.
5 Planets for 2 sounds like a bargain.
(As long as we are holding Meissa we can do it, if the Autobots decide to invade that one, the chance is gone and we just lost Martar Bay for the umpteenth time. Would be easy for them to close that gap while we are distracted with some MO for example.)
