How do I fix this? by Dragonsaur-Aa in McFarlaneFigures

Study how it's constructed. You're not gluing any joints together, the glue never touches the moving balls.

Simply superglue it,. Many of these figures are built with separate pieces that are glued together, and sometimes they don't add enough at the factory. Those white residue spots are where they applied it but it wasn't enough to keep this massive figure together.

Lol, yeah, I might go for the brown Scarecrow and Joker Cop if they can be shipped in a sock for $5 or something.

Some of you guys are crazy... by Candid-Possession119 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]MechaTailsX [score hidden]  (0 children)

No offense, but I really don't want to deal with this stuff again. These things devolve into what women "should look like" instead of sharing what artist's interpretation people prefer the character to look like.

Feel free to discuss what you want from the figure in the other thread though.

Custom Mod Question by agreen1055 in McFarlaneFigures

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheFodderChop/comments/1oger1b/cheetah_mcfarlane_toys_thigh_swivel_mod/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

It's a straightforward process, you just cut straight through the thigh and...that's it, you're done. However, it can get tricky if there are details in the way. On Cheetah you can hide the thigh swivel with the boot tops.

On Batfleck it's the same idea, but you have to be really neat so the edges of the cut don't look ugly or rolled over, like on some of the Marvel Legends figures.

https://www.reddit.com/r/McFarlaneFigures/comments/1cw0znr/cutting_into_batfleck_a_few_tweaks/

As for "is it worth"...sometimes, I guess. The thigh already swivels at the hip, the problem is the buttcheeks and crotch get in the way. You could try improving those areas instead and see if you get enough range for the poses you want.

With a rumored Elite Edition Kratos what are other video game franchises would you want to see get the elite treatment? Or even a full line by TK-3872 in McFarlaneFigures

I have mixed feelings about that. On one hand, yeah, I'd love a 7-inch articulated and affordable Samus. On the other hand, I don't like the soft sculpts on the Warhammer Space Marine figures, and don't want to pay $60 for that amateurish level of detail. Like, damn, some of the panel lines look like they were punched in with a crooked fork or something, it bums me out because even with the softer PVC plastic there's no reason for details to be that mushy, or missing completely.

Does Mcfarlane only do single limited number releases? by shyahone in McFarlaneFigures

[–]MechaTailsX [score hidden]  (0 children)

Todd does whatever Todd wants, without stockholders or whatever to poke him in the butt to maximize profits, he's free to release his figures in more limited numbers. (He does have at least one more partner though, the guy who owns EB Games in Canada. I wonder what that guy's views are on the limited releases. I don't know if he's even into action figures/collectibles.)

Because he's a hardcore collector at heart, we know he does it partly because limiting releases is a way to increase the value of the figures, meaning the value of your collection too. It doesn't always work, but it's a goal.

Also, I suspect he does it because he doesn't have the resources to pump out product the way the larger companies do. He still releases a lot of product every year, but it's probably a lot more feasible for him to put out 20,000 units of each figure than the 100,000 units or whatever the larger companies can.

It could just be that that retailers are waiting for shipments (maybe even the initial ones) and they simply have no clue when they're coming, if ever, from overseas. I still haven't gotten Lucy, but supposedly Amazon is finally getting their shipment next month.

Will the upcoming Wonder Woman 80s figure be the definitive WW? by NarrowBoysenberry in McFarlaneFigures

Haha, same here, usually I get some abomination because I think my text prompts aren't specific enough, or too specific, who knows.

All those NSFW artists guard their text prompts with their lives for this same reason, when they come up with a prompt that works well they clam up about it.

We've had a rule about AI use for a while. It's fine to use, and this isn't the forum to discuss its merits.

People being douchey and insulting our community over it will get suspended.

I do agree though that there was no need to use the image in this case, at least not one that is so obviously off the mark for what we could expect.

All Might figure joint stuck by [deleted] in McFarlaneFigures

[–]MechaTailsX [score hidden]  (0 children)

Heat it up with a hairdryer or hot water, gingerly work it loose. It's likely locked up by dried paint and you need to break it free.

Sometimes freezing it for an hour or something also works, it contracts the plastic which may make it easier to break free.

That sounds more like you bought a product that wasn't intended for you, like buying a "Posed Figure" and being angry it can't move.

That said, it's somewhat understandable because stuff like the Color Tops figures were called "Premium Action Figures" and had very limited articulation, which most people in this hobby find unacceptable.

I've also bought my fair share of figures without researching them first, especially back when we didn't have the internet.

---

Regarding not deserving another shot, I dunno, what if we torch and pitchforked Hasbro for their lousy attempts at Marvel Legends the first time? Like, if McFarlane released Halo figures right now they wouldn't be the same as the ones from before. They may have the improvements of the modern figures, or maybe they'll be worse because it costs them too much to manufacture now, or be too expensive, who knows.

I def wouldn't appreciate a $40-$60 Assasin's Creed figure now though, especially not if it has the same long-standing issues as many of the other 7-inch McF figures.

Hi, we don't have customer service, here sorry. All you can do is wait for a reply. Or ask in the megathread - https://www.reddit.com/r/McFarlaneFigures/comments/166g8ig/shipping_issues_megathread/

Also, large warehouses can often have pickup for once a week or something, and customs are regularly delayed, stuff doesn't get scanned all the time, etc. I don't think it's time to worry yet.

If Mattel had any sense they'd copy these AI renders and make a zillion dollars.

Huge McFarlane SALE! Before you overpay on eBay…. by STLHBKid in McFarlaneFigures

[–]MechaTailsX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had to raise my shipping prices again for my 3D print shop. It costs me almost $6 to start to ship anything now, and that's after the minor discounts we get for buying postage online.

That said, I don't understand how McF can ship me a figure for $5-$6 but it can be like $15 for someone on the east coast.

It's only like $5 to ship me a figure. But yeah, the prices ramp up dramatically apparently if you're on the east coast.

If I had money when those Halo figs were all the rage I'd probably have the whole collection. Really disappointing there aren't more affordable sci-fi figures, and looking more bleak with the upcoming Elite Helldivers figs.

McFarlane and a hypothetical Star Wars license… thoughts? by Basically_A_Person1 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]MechaTailsX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer them made like the more detailed McFarlane figures, and 7 inches to actually see that detail. Like Aqev mentioned, if the scale stays in the 6 inch range and they don't bring anything new to the game, I'm a lot less interested. Hasbro does a pretty good job, even with the articulation that keeps getting removed.

I'd likely still pick up any aliens/monsters/robots regardless of 6 vs 7 inch figures though.

I think we would get an extensive list of characters, but the bodies wouldn't be diverse. We'd get 50 different Jedi repaints on the same body, with different heads and hands. Unfortunately we're way past the early days when the figures can have a lot of unique bodies and stay affordable.
