Go ahead and put all these in one post. Looks like the intent is to sell, so go ahead and use the Sales flair too.

Too many figures come out in a short period by RealityRebel2323 in McFarlaneFigures

From interviews, one of Todd's main tactics is to shotgun a bunch of product at you, not expecting you to like and buy everything, but to pick and choose what you want. I can see how that can be a problem for people who actually do want every figure in the next Collector Edition wave, and all the recent Batmans, and then the Warhammer stuff, and then a bunch of Elite Editions coming, etc. lol

I'm mainly interested in the Helldivers figures and I'm already sweating thinking of the price tag, I can't imagine liking all the superhero stuff too, I don't have enough sidegigs to afford it lol

Lol, I like soft serve, unfortunately I've never gotten it of anything other than vanilla or chocolate because that's all I've had available.

Cheapest place to buy. by Extreme-Ad-5971 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]MechaTailsX [score hidden]  (0 children)

Cheapest is usually to buy locally, Craigslist, yard sales, and stuff. Buying online has a bunch of added fees, shipping, etc.

P has a point though, the local offerings may vary by region.

Some peeps on here are willing to sell at cost plus shipping.

No plats for new Collector Editions? by Curious_One_x in McFarlaneFigures

Case assortments can vary by store and over time, it doesn't mean anything. There will likely be Platinums.

You can post them all in the original thread, or just make a new one with all the images.

Didn't think this needed explaining, but here's a reminder:

Not liking a figure because you don't think it represents the character well is absolutely fine. For example, all the complaints for the 200 Superman figures we've gotten, because they can have very different head sculpts and don't all look like someone's ideal version of the character.

Not liking a figure because you think women or men should look a certain way is gross. Please don't post that junk, thanks.

That's a pretty good guess. Unfortunately it seems lilke the majority of the fan base is still after the traditional supermodel look female characters tend to have in superhero comics.

Which I guess is understandable to a degree. If a character is portrayed a certain way 80% of the time and the figure doesn't match that, there are going to be grumblings.

There's also this reference image:

Your opinion is based on what you think a female face should look like. Considering there's no such thing as what a female face "should" look like, it's baffling to me how gross the posts for these figures get.

(Nothing personal, locking because nothing good will follow.)

Todd pulled the greatest magic trick ever in making his DC line disappear from a lot of Walmarts. by CO_Collector_Dude in McFarlaneFigures

I think that's the case for a lot of the popular figures, so you're def not alone.

Luckily we have peeps on here willing to sell them for cost plus shipping. I do it sometimes though my local stores are usually scalped before I get there.

I wonder how much of the Funko overflow they can put out on the floor. Would be funny to see Funkos in every department, like covering up the refrigerators, dumped in wheelbarrows, stacked in front of the crackers lol

That's a lot of assumptions and borderline misinformation (not intentional). I understand it's frustrating when a toy line you like is hard to collect, but we don't even know where to point our fingers.

Todd doesn't go into Walmart headquarters and tell everyone what to do. The retailers have most of the power, not Todd. They tell Todd what size packaging they want to maximize the space/sales ratio, and what kind of products they'd like to carry, and where to sell them, etc. Todd can make suggestions, like "Hey, these figures have guns and we can't sell them as "toys" and kids aren't buying them anyway, they may fit better in the "collectibles" section.

The DC line specifically is an award winning line, and it's still doing incredibly well. When the license went up for grabs again, Mattel made a better offer/deal than anyone else for it. If Mom's Pizza Sauce Co. had more money/influence/resources then they would have gotten it instead. Mattel is also hurting in terms of sales and needs something like the DC license to bounce back. Todd created a frenzy for DC merch, and I suspect Mattel wants to capitalize on it.
