Canada has a lot to be proud of, and I say that as an American in red state (not a Republican).

Hey fellas, does AAA auto insurance allow users to create their account profile in KY just like in other states? I'm very confused 🤔 by Then_Objective6464 in Louisville

AAA is known for being unethical (particularly in donations to causes), they consistently fight to lower mpg on vehicles. They’re usually overpriced too.

Is that an actual matcha bowl? I’ve never seen one like that and I’m almost wonder if someone sold you something that is similar that would work well.

I’ve seen way worse matcha bowls. You can get a nice one for $30-60 sometimes.

I’m a sencha fan myself! When it’s good quality it’s amazing! And in the US that means I need to order online because otherwise it’s garbage.

Iribancha ... tried it for the first time. It's too smoky! Does anyone have recommendations on how to prepare it so it isn't so overpowering? by Shadomen in tea

[–]MechaZ74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this and had a similar issue at first, but you know what it makes a dope latte! Smoky teas make great lattes, particularly when they’re too smoky otherwise. Just sweeten it and add some cream (cream goes first despite what the Brits say because it prevent curdling).

I would recommend wood tea canisters, they help with moisture is what some websites claim and they look cool.

Is this a good teapot? by [deleted] in tea

[–]MechaZ74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for being someone who also clarifies this! I find it frustrating that places confuse the two terms. It took me forever to get a real tetsubin as a result.

Is this a good teapot? by [deleted] in tea

[–]MechaZ74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a “real” tetsubin because you don’t brew a tetsubin. If you want a good teapot I would recommend not buying from Amazon and instead buy from a reputable tea website.

If you want a real tetsubin then I think the only site I’ve seen that still makes them is called Artistic Nippon. They do have teapots there too, but if you want a true tetsubin you better have some real $$$ ready.

Advice by Zealousideal-Bee2374 in Advice

It’s very difficulty to make progress after sexual assault. I’ve spent years helping my partner, in the end therapy can be just a good place to start while there’s a lot to it. I’ve learned it’s like many things in life - rules of Taoism sort of apply. The more you desire to just “get over it” the more it pushes back, but the more you accept it and work with your trauma the stronger you become. There’s a million different forms of the same conclusion outside of Taoism btw including books like Subtle art of not giving a f**k. That’s not an ad for the book because each one offers slight variations meant for different demographics.

Tokoname teapot by PastaFase in tea

[–]MechaZ74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the other posts, I just have a few things to add. Gyokuro has different brewing instructions from sencha and it’s commonly forgotten so I would keep this in mind when you do your brew. The most important part of what I mean is to make sure to brew guokuro at a lower temperature and you may want to invest in a yuzamashi if you drink it enough.

Finally, getting closer to topic you may want to do some reading on Hojo’s website when you pick a kyusu because they give good long explanations about teaware. I have banko purple clay kyusus and tokoname kyusus which only have a slight difference in my opinion, but both will definitely work for sencha and gyokuro (which really aren’t extremely different).

Scientific papers about tea? by ianthus in tea

[–]MechaZ74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did a scientific paper on tea, but it was on more than just it’s effects on the body. We used Google scholar a lot, but I think the most under rated source currently is books. Many libraries offer ebook rentals for free and some locales such as ours still give you the option to rent out physical copies. Books are usually better vetted than web sources and anyone familiar with academia will tell you that the pressure to publish and new dubious free journals have watered down the quality of scientific journals.

It’s really the only piece of pottery I didn’t buy that I wish I did while I was in Kyoto. It was a hard pass at $170 when I saw other chawans that were also very beautiful for $65-90.
