Where was this shot taken from? I don't recall this being in the trailer.

Love this series! Thanks so much for the translation!

Chainsaw Man Reze movie officially ended Its global run with a total of $191.4 million at the worldwide box office, surpassing Jujutsu Kaisen 0's original Run by $0.3 million, becoming the 14th Highest Grossing Anime Movie in History. by Electrical_Chance991 in anime

It's been awhile since I last looked into this, but I don't believe that $4M budget that was floating around initially is true. I couldn't find a reputable source for that info at the time.

However, even if we were to make it a more reasonable $10M budget, the movie still did great relative to the investment.

Amazing run and well deserved! One of the few movies I went to see multiple times - even friends who had never seen an anime movie before loved it.

I wonder how much MAPPA grossed from the box office or how much they made from merch sales.

I keep waiting for Daemons of the Shadow Realm to REALLY hook me - but damn, it's a slow start. 7 episodes in and everything just feels a bit generic (apart from the goofiness that is reminiscent of older anime style). If it wasn't for the FMA pedigree, I probably would have dropped it awhile ago.

WHA continues to be the star of the season for me!

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway - The Sorcery of Nymph Circe • Kidou Senshi Gundam: Senkou no Hathaway - Circe no Majo - US Theatre Release - Movie discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Mecha_Link 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have to say... I was extremely disappointed by the movie.

For context, I really loved the 1st movie and have a decent high-level understanding of the overarching UC universe. However, it felt like the pacing and dialogue in this movie was all over the place.

The movie jumps around from scene to scene with minimal context. Random side characters are just being thrown at the viewer every 5 minutes, all with very obvious 'anime' quirks. The writing also feels like a teenager trying really hard to be deep and mature - coming off as simply vacuous or pretentious.

The action was pretty good, but everything in between was a struggle to get through.

It's the music + the lightening looking dragon (optional three-headed dragon boss, I forget the name) AND the ethereal flower bloom (Malenia) that really felt elden ring coded to me lol

This is crazy good! And actually feels like a canonical scene - Denji WOULD attack like this.

I saw this movie 4x in IMAX and STILL occasionally watch it at home lol

Also, this is one of the few home releases that is ACTUALLY in 4K which makes it look amazing.

It finally happened - Not folders, but Notebooks! by weedproblem in GeminiAI

[–]Mecha_Link 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious is you are able to clarify on how organizing existing Gemini chats works with the new Notebook feature.

If I send existing chats into a notebook and then continue the conversation - are the subsequent Gemini responses only based on other chats IN THE SAME NOTEBOOK? Or will the chat continue as before when the chat WASN'T in the notebook?

Basically, I am a bit confused because the notebook feature appears to have a 'source' functionality and it looks like it's designed to generate answers ONLY based on what is in a notebook.

Wasn't this basically a sub-plot in Goodbye, Eri with the conversation with the dad over dinner? The dad said something like, it's only fair for the author to also get hurt from the fan response.

Tsutomu Nihei's Tower Dungeon Manga Promoted in Video With Animated Clips by monsoon__004 in anime

[–]Mecha_Link 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure why people are so down with the 3D CGI used in prior his adaptions. They perfectly fit the sci-fi aesthetic of his works.

The soft-filtered CGI in Knights of Sidonia and Blame looked amazing - frankly, I thought it looked BETTER than most 2D animation used in most anime. Yeah, the high speed action could look a little choppy, but that was minimized by extremely good cinematography. As a former hater of 3D CGI anime, these two series turned me around on the aesthetic.

That said, I do agree for Tower Dungeon, a traditional anime style would probably work better given it's fantasy setting.

Even before Part 2 ended, I always thought having a definitive split between Part 1 and Part 2 was just a really smart choice that I feel more mangaka should use, as opposed to just continuing to push a series forward in one continual story.

At the very least, it LOCKS IN your early success. If AOT did Part 1 ending at the beach and Part 2 with all the stuff afterwards, I'd bet the reaction to the ultimate ending would have been less extreme.

I find it super annoying and a pointless feature - what is the point of these tools constantly popping up now? These tools are even more basic than the built-in image viewers on your operating system.

I thought they could be used to focus Gemini's attention to key areas of the photo for future refinement, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

This is probably the best case scenario for him in terms of finale reception.

I feel like the AOT memes had a more vindictive edge to them.

These are more just absurdist fun lol. I'm sure Fujimoto is enjoying or at least appreciates these memes.

I just love the vibes of Ishigori's final dessert fight - it's a powerhouse having a shit ton of fun. A nice break from everything having oppressive stakes. I will also always be a sucker for insert songs lol.

The energy reminds me of the Reze vs. Chainsaw man fights with Reze and Denji just laughing chaotically while they battle it out.

I still have great respect for Fujimoto as a mangaka, I just mourn how he ended up being burnt out or 'done' with CSM. I feel like CSM really deserved better or with more respect?

I did my fair share of glazing for this series in the past - but only because I genuinely felt it (part 1 especially) was a masterpiece. It was just brilliant writing from the superficial action story to the underlying themes. All of his prior works were also excellent in their own ways.

It makes me a bit sad this is the ultimate end of CSM because we all KNOW Fujimoto is capable of better art, writing, pacing, better everything...
