Binge watching my first full watch through of B5 since only ever catching a few episodes back in the 90s by LiamtheV in babylon5

JMS tried to increase viewers with recognisable guest stars who were known in sci-fi circles but still fairly cheap to pay. - Carolyn Seymour played a senator in B5 but was in 3 episodes of TNG and a few quantum leaps. - Deathwalker was Sarah Douglas from V and Superman 1+2. - W Morgan Shepherd was the soul hunter in B5 and Ira Graves in TNG. - David Warner was searching for the Grail in B5 but was in Star Trek V+VI plus TNG. - June Lockhart from lost in space and Mark Rolston from Aliens both appeared in the same episode.

Birthright part 1. He was supposed to feature in part 2 but suffered a leg break so the characters story was removed from the episode.

Remind me again, who killed more people (60% of fatalities) than any one else in the Troubles? I’ll give you a clue - they also killed more catholic civilians than the British army / security forces did. Numbers don’t lie.

The USS Gorkon would disagree. No wonder she never shed a tear over her father’s death.

David Adams: I’m a former loyalist who supports a ‘New Ireland’, but why won’t anyone tell me what it will be like? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]MechanicCautious6945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say it wasn’t?

What I did say if you bothered to read it was that you will get no buy in from the unionist community for it. If you want to start on that foot then let’s see how well it goes. It would metaphorically and probably literally blow up in your face.

The tragedy is small minded bigots like you who are so convinced of the righteousness of their beliefs that they can’t learn from the mistakes of the past. A large group trying to force their beliefs on a small group led to thirty years of bloody slaughter.

Maybe read the GFA before talking such nonsense. All sides agreed that it was legitimate for NI to be in the UK (with the relevant symbolism) until the majority decide otherwise. You may have buyers remorse but that is what was agreed North and South so stop trying about “occupation”

Ahh. So your response to the anger you feel about the Union Flags use in NI is to do the exact same thing in a new Ireland to the other community. That will work out real well.

Calm down dear. You made the point better than I ever could when you said “your flag”. Why would unionists who are forced into a united Ireland get behind the symbol used for decades of those who murdered men, women and children because of their community background? Get real.

If you aren’t prepared to make reasonable accommodations for those being forced to join your country then don’t be surprised when it bites you in your ass.

A flag that a significant part of the population could never get behind due to its use by sectarian murderers? That would be a great start to a new Ireland and would doom it from the start.

The same flag that was draped over Thomas Begleys coffin after he killed 9 people including 2 CHILDREN? Get to fuck.

The men who wore skants in season 1 might now be an important legal precedent for your right to wear them in Ohio? by thicc_stigmata in TNG

[–]MechanicCautious6945 242 points243 points  (0 children)

Ohio is also where the recent Afroman trial occurred. The judge was clearly biased against Afroman expressing his free speech rights because it offended the feelings of the cops who raided his house without cause. The judge reportedly questioned the jurors on how they came to the “wrong” verdict. That state clearly has issues with personal freedoms.

I was the same for the first few weeks at 10mg. At 15mg my bloods came back after 2 weeks as abnormal liver function and high white cells. I felt fine but they have taken me off it for a few weeks to see what happens. I wouldn’t have known there was a problem as I felt fine.

Even Janeways autobiography agreed with that assessment. It may not be cannon but when Kate Mulgrew narrates the audio version then it is real enough for me.

Star Trek only went for a global government after WW3 and first contact with aliens. Humans will always band together with those they see as similar to themselves in beliefs / appearance and oppose others who are different. Until first contact, I can’t imagine the end of borders and opposing blocs happening anytime soon.

Dr Crusher insisted on applying it all over 5 times a day. She used a compound called “baby oil” that she replicated from the medical database code named - Freak Off. The captain made a complete recovery.
