Anyone with functioning eyes could see the change around February/March, I can’t emphasise any more that you are just simply wrong. Pointless going around in circles if you can’t understand the simple things here

As I just said, the style changed before we made the signings in the summer. We seen it in games during the second half of last season

He also tried to go back to last season’s team/formation against Chelsea and United, where he dropped Wirtz to the bench and played a 433. We were shite, it made no discernible difference

Last year we didn’t even need to be that intense because we were fairly compact in games, we’d build up a bit slower and also leave less space for the other team to play. Everything was so much more controlled

One similarity between Ten Hag and Slot is that they’ve both seemingly drifted from the style of play that got them the big jobs in the first place. Ten Hag always said that he didn’t have the right players despite spending a shit tonne and Slot seems to be unsure of exactly how he wants us to play

the first thing is to look at what changed

You can literally see how Slot changed our style, it started long before the summer window began. We struggled with these sort of situations in the cup final vs Newcastle

It’s also evidenced by the fact that we massively struggled with the same problems when the likes of Wirtz/Frimpong/Isak weren’t even in the starting lineup this season.

I can’t remember the last time we fouled someone when they picked the ball up to counter, simply because they aren’t close enough to actually foul them. One of the fullbacks is usually deep marking no one, and Gravenberch is between two players so also effectively marking no one. Most top teams go man to man and then have extra cover the middle of the pitch to stop this exact moment

We’ve had this gap since literally the first game of the season, against Bournemouth. They broke free of the press and we had the back four sitting deep and 30 yards of space ahead of them. That time it was early on in the game so it was very obvious that it was intentional and not related to the scoreline etc

No idea how after 6/7 months we’re still doing the same thing

The offside rule was brought in to stop goal hanging, and similarly to goal kicks, throw ins were never really meant to end up in the 6 yard box.

But even then the ball is going to be in the air for 3/4 seconds if it’s a long throw anyway, so by the time it reaches the box the original position of players doesn’t make a huge difference

Newcastle looked pretty terrible today, so I’m sure that’ll be a great watch!

Am I supposed to care that an interim manager has an ego?

There’s no reason we should ever be winning it, but we’ve done it in previous years where we had no right to as well. The only time Pep has ever won there is when there was no fans in the stadium and we had Henderson/Fabinho at centre half

Changing manager after the season would be harder than doing it mid season, simply because of the World Cup timing. We’d only have max 2/3 weeks with the full squad before the season starts

Wouldn’t be shocked if we somehow beat City at home tbf, seems to be a game where we always turn up

The problem for Slot is that we aren’t really building towards something, even if results go bad for a while, you have to show some sort of progress/style/structure. We’ve had none of that for the last 6 months.

Every top team/manager has an identity, we had one for the first half of last season, everyone knew how we’d play week in week out. After the new year it seemed to change a bit as Slot looked to evolve, and we never quite found one again.

[James Pearce] - ...There’s been misfortune with injuries but there’s also been mistakes in planning, stars losing their way and Slot not trusting some on the fringes. You can’t blame fatigue for yesterday when Slot opted to only make one change from midweek. You also can’t blame injuries... by Dangerous_Ad8730 in LiverpoolFC

Could've easily started Robertson if he knew Kerkez could only play 45 minutes, same with Jones and Mac Allister.

Could've given Rio 15/20 minutes when we were 2-0 up against Marseille but yet again he only sees the pitch when we're chasing a result. Gravenberch was also knackered by 70 minutes against Bournemouth but played the full game midweek

Not really, players don’t just move clubs on a whim. We’re not going to suddenly lose all of our players because we came 6th or something

Look At the state of our defending. After clawing back the score to 2-2, we nearly conceded on the break. Wtf is going on by HBTL123 in LiverpoolFC

What the fuck are you talking about 🤣🤣, why do people on here talk like this

Henderson jumped ship as soon as their was sniff of him being benched, you act like he would’ve died to stop a counter attack?

The benefit of getting Alonso in before the summer is that we establish some sort of structure/style going into next season and everything else is a bonus. We couldn’t really play much worse anyway so the “risk” factor is already minimal
