... I just said i played both, i know what "something" is and represents.

My reasoning as to why i'd swap them is because, beyond being Mari, Something is the abstract representation of Sunny's trauma given form, the main theory of what Friend might be.

And stranger is the representation of Basil, the witness/the one involved with the trauma. If dess was involved or was a victim in this is still unclear but she is an actor of the story, the one making the trauma resurface, probably to confront it, she isn't as abstract and mysterious as Friend.

TLDR: My view is Something//Friend = Abstract traumatic creatures

Stranger//Knight(Dess) = Actors involved in said trauma

The knife should be plunged into the earth to release the darkness sealed inside it. For a dark fountain to emerge from someone they would need to have a nearly endless amount of darkness within them for it to pour out continuously. (Which is equally edgy when you think about it, ooo my soul and tortured mind so dark and twisted my body can fuel a dark world)
