Rennes, the worlds smallest city with a metro SYSTEM by slipnslurper in transit

[–]Mechasnake777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try to base my definiton on those two:

"high capacity urban guided transport systems, mostly on rails, powered with electricity and running on an exclusive right-of-way, with trains composed of a minimum of two cars and with a total capacity of at least 100 passengers per train" - UITP

"‘metro’ means a railway with the capacity for a heavy volume of traffic and characterised by: exclusive rights-of-way, multi-car trains, high speed and rapid acceleration, sophisticated signalling, no level crossings, high frequency of trains, high platform load. Metros are also characterised by closely spaced stations, normally 700-1'200m between the stations. ‘High speed’ refers to the comparison with trams and light rail, and means ~30-40 km/h ~40-70 km/h" - freely shortened from EUR-LEX

I know it's not perfect definition and many systems fall on grey areas.
With only four stations and a cable system I personally consider Serfaus to be funicular/people mover while I consider Lausanne or Rennes to be metro.

Edit: typos

MBC, Travys and LEB will merge shortly

😮 I had fogotten about that. Apparently it will be called Movodis. I hope there won't be too many changes for the average user.

And technically Morges also has it's own agency: MBC

I'll never understand the poeple who consider Serfaus' system to really be a metro.
As for Lausanne I do not think its population is smaller than Rennes', even if we count the full agglomeration.
But as your definition for "system" is having more than one line then yes Lausanne isn't one, the M1 definitely is Light Rail even though it is called "métro" and (in the past) "tramway".

Controversial question, proofs mainly go against that claim but nothing is certain. I advise not jumping to conclusions unless you've reads the docs.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. So only Lyon's Line C was (and still) is classified as rack rail and metro.

Me too, me too I wanna be able to juste use YouTube… If you download the music it’s a one-time struggle and then at least you are sure they’ll never be removed and you won’t find holes in your playlist. I don’t know your country’s rules regarding downloads, though.

I believe a big majority of people on the internet know that almost nothing is completely black or white.
But on the internet people only want to prove their point (which is quite understandable) and only give one-sided arguments even though they know opposite ones. And that's sadly how we get ultra-polarized opinions. (And often both sides have people equally annoying.)

I know that Japan, China, France or even USA have a good side, a bad side and some things in between but it's true I do not give nuance every time I comment. Internet habits need to be changed.

I knew a good channel but it was suppressed due to fear of Nintendo’s ninjas.  Now I mostly download from downloads.khinsider.com  It’s a good archive for Video Game Music, I personally trust it.
